Athletics activated 3B Max Muncy from the 10-day injured list.
There are once again two Max Muncys in the big leagues, with the Athletics’ version returning after nearly six weeks on the shelf with a fractured finger. The 23-year-old returns to his previous post as the club’s starting third baseman ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Brewers in Las Vegas. He offers a little bit of power and speed, but is unlikely to do enough in either department to net out as an impact fantasy contributor outside of AL-only leagues.

Max Muncy (finger) went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Muncy has made it through five contests on his rehab assignment and shouldn’t be too far off from returning to the Athletics’ lineup as their starting third baseman. The 23-year-old has been on the shelf recovering from a fractured finger since late April. He’s close to making it back.

Max Muncy (finger) began a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
The 23-year-old infielder has been sidelined since April 28 due to a fractured finger. Due to the long layoff, it’s likely that he’ll need at least several games worth of at-bats before he’s ready to rejoin the Athletics. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to return by the end of next week.

Max Muncy (fractured finger) has begun his swing progression.
Muncy has been sidelined since April 28th with a fractured finger. He has just begun his swing progressions, so he will likely need to hit off of a tee, do front toss, and then work up to hitting off a machine and live pitching. He’s still likely a couple of weeks away from getting into rehab games.

Max Muncy hasn’t resumed baseball activities since going on the injured list on Apr. 28.
Munch fractured his finger on Apr. 13, though since it wasn’t known at the time, he played through the injury for a couple of weeks. One imagines he’ll spend at least another two weeks on the IL.

Athletics placed 3B Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 26, with a fractured finger.
It’s a bit unclear how long Muncy will be sidelined at this juncture. However, it turns out the 23-year-old third baseman was playing through a fractured finger for nearly two weeks after being hit by a pitch back on April 13, which caused his overall numbers at the plate to plummet. It’ll likely be Darrell Hernaiz taking over at the hot corner in his absence.

Max Muncy struck out twice and walked once before being removed for a pinch-hitter Saturday against the Rangers.
Carlos Cortes doubled in his place. Muncy was a nice surprise for two weeks, but he’s 4-for-36 with one extra-base hit (a triple) and 16 strikeouts in his last 12 games, leaving him with a .239/.308/.402 line on the season. He’s not assured of remaining a regular at third base.

Max Muncy went 2-for-4 and scored the game’s lone run in a win against the Yankees on Thursday.
He hit a leadoff triple off the center field wall in the seventh inning and came in to score on Tyler Soderstrom’s RBI single. Muncy has played 12 games and is off to a .319/.333/.574 start in his first 47 at-bats as (usually) the starting third baseman for the Athletics. Still just 23, there’s plenty of fantasy upside here if everything comes together, especially playing most of his games in a minor league park in Sacramento.

Max Muncy went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI on Friday as the Athletics triumphed over the Astros in their home opener.
Muncy smacked a two-out single off of Cristian Javier in the second inning and scored the game’s first run on Denzel Clarke’s RBI knock. He then delivered a two-out, two-run double in the third that increased the A’s advantage to 4-1. He capped off his three-hit attack with a 404-foot (101.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Roddery Munoz in the fourth that made it 10-1. He’s off to a solid start to the 2026 season, slashing .269/.296/.615 with a pair of homers, five RBI and a stolen base in 27 plate appearances, though he has struck out 10 times.

Max Muncy swatted his fourth home run of the spring on Monday, lifting the Athletics to a 3-0 win over the Angels in Cactus League play.
Muncy was unable to establish himself as an everyday option for the rebuilding Athletics before finishing last year in a versatile utility role. A strong performance this spring ensures that he’ll open the regular season as the Athletics’ starting third baseman but the lack of any real power/speed combo upside limits his realistic fantasy appeal to AL-only formats.
