Michael Soroka limited the Nationals to one run and three hits over seven innings in the Diamondbacks’ 5-1 victory Sunday.
Soroka allowed three hits, walked two and struck out six for his eighth win. In 13 starts, he’s given up eight runs once, four runs twice and never more than two runs otherwise. That he’s become more of a flyball pitcher while throwing fewer sinkers should have resulted in him giving up more homers, but he’s allowed just five on 17 barrels so far. He’ll take a 3.28 ERA into his next start in Cincinnati.

Michael Soroka allowed four runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Soroka gave up a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman in the first inning. Shohei Ohtani would drive in two more with a triple in the second inning. Soroka settled in to give the D-backs four more scoreless frames, ending his day after six innings with six strikeouts. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a solid 3.49 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 66/15 K/BB ratio across 67 innings into a start against the Nationals in Arizona on Sunday.

Michael Soroka allowed two runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Giants.
Soroka struck out three, didn’t hand out a free pass and needed just 83 pitches (60 strikes) to complete six frames and pick up his seventh win of the year. The 28-year-old has allowed two earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts and nine of his first 11 outings during his Diamondbacks debut this season. He’s been one of the more pleasant surprises in among the consensus late-round dart throw tier in fantasy drafts earlier this spring. He’s in line for a challenging matchup his next time out against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Michael Soroka pitched six innings of one-run ball in a no-decision Friday against the Rockies.
Soroka left with a one-run lead that got blown in the eighth, keeping him at 6-2 with a 3.27 ERA. He has another rather kind matchup coming up against the Giants in San Francisco on Wednesday.

Michael Soroka yielded two runs in 5 2/3 innings and struck out eight Sunday against the Rockies.
After giving up eight runs to the Brewers on April 30, Soroka has allowed three runs over 18 1/3 innings in three starts this month. His schedule has been on the easier side during a start to the year that has seen him go 6-2 with a 3.49 ERA, but his 55/14 K/BB in 49 innings is nice. It’s just a matter if he can stay healthy, as he hasn’t put in a full season since 2019. He’ll be a nice play with a home start against these same Rockies on the schedule for next weekend.

Michael Soroka shut out the Rangers for 6 1/3 innings in the Diamondbacks’ 1-0 win Monday.
Always start your pitchers against the Rangers at Globe Life Field. Teams have combined to score exactly 100 runs in 19 games there this year, 50 by the Rangers and 50 by their opponents. That’s average of 2.63 runs per game, compared to a league average is 4.43. Soroka allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five tonight. He’ll go from arguably the league’s friendliest environment for pitchers tonight to its harshest in Coors Field this weekend against the Rockies.

Michael Soroka limited the Pirates to one run in 6 1/3 innings in a tough loss Wednesday.
Bouncing back from a loss to the Brewers in which he gave up eight runs, Soroka allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out six in what ended up being a 1-0 game. He’ll take a 4-2 record and a 4.14 ERA into his next start in Texas.

Michael Soroka was lit up for eight runs and 10 hits in three-plus innings by the Brewers on Thursday.
Soroka threw 35 pitches in a three-run first, leading to some very early bullpen action for Arizona. He got the pitch count under control from there, but he never really had any success in setting a new career high for runs allowed and matching his previous high for hits allowed. His ERA jumped from 2.60 all of the way to 4.70. He’ll get the Pirates next, and while that’s not typically a bad matchup, that he’ll likely be opposing Paul Skenes will make him a weaker play.

Michael Soroka turned in five innings of one-run ball Thursday against the White Sox.
Soroka struck out six. He allowed seven hits, but he was rather unlucky to do so; the White Sox actually went 6-for-11 against him on non-hard-hit balls. Soroka departed a 1-1 game, so he remains 4-0 with a 2.60 ERA. He’ll likely get six days off before making his next start next Thursday in Milwaukee.

Michael Soroka pitched seven innings of two-run ball and struck out five against the Blue Jays on Friday.
Soroka walked none. He had only seven whiffs on 54 swings and a 20 percent CSW, but a .200 BABIP carried him tonight. That’s the opposite of how his previous starts had gone, as he entered tonight with a 34 percent strikeout rate but a .353 BABIP. Soroka is now 4-0 with a 2.78 ERA. It still doesn’t seem likely that he’ll provide much long-term value in mixed leagues, but there’s little harm in riding him for now, especially since he’ll probably make his next start against the White Sox.
