Michael Wacha allowed five runs -- four earned -- with two strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss against the Twins on Friday.
Wacha held the Twins scoreless through two innings before giving up a run on two hits and a groundout in the third. After five innings of one-run ball, Wacha let things get away in the sixth, starting with a solo homer by Brooks Lee. Three straight hits and a pair of wild pitches would bring two more runs in and knock Wacha from the game at 77 pitches. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.44 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 67/26 K/BB ratio across 81 innings into a start against the Rangers in Kansas City on Thursday.

Michael Wacha surrendered six runs and walked four in five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.
The Royals had already lost Wacha’s previous three outings, but those were all quality starts from the righty. This is just his third non-quality start in 12 tries. He hit a batter and walked one in a four-run first and then mostly held it together aside from giving up three singles in the fourth. He wound up allowing eight hits but only five hard-hit balls. Wacha’s ERA stands at 3.23, and he’ll get the Twins on Friday.

Michael Wacha pitched seven innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Monday against the Yankees.
Wacha allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five in his fifth straight quality starts and ninth overall in 11 outings this season. In spite of his success, the Royals dropped to 4-7 in his starts, though Wacha at least has a 4-2 record anyway. He’ll be a fine play in Texas against the Rangers on Sunday.

Michael Wacha picked up a no-decision on Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing one earned run on six hits over six innings.
Wacha struck out eight and walked two against his former team, needing 105 pitches to complete the quality start. He’s down to a 2.70 ERA in his age-34 campaign, which would be the lowest of his career if the season ended today. It doesn’t, and a .232 BABIP with a high left-on-base rate could hint at regression, as all his ERA indicators suggest he’s at the same talent level as recent years. Wacha will look to keep rolling next time out at home against the Yankees.

Michael Wacha logged a quality start in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Friday evening, allowing three runs on five hits over his six frames.
The veteran right-hander struck out five batters in the ballgame while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball as Jordan Walker socked a two-run dinger in the fourth inning and Pedro Pages added a solo shot in the fifth. Wacha got 12 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he brings an outstanding 2.83 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 47/18 K/BB ratio (57 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Red Sox.

Michael Wacha threw seven shutout innings in a win over the Tigers on Saturday, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six.
As is typical, Wacha didn’t have a lot of whiffs in this one, with just a five percent swinging strike rate, but he made the most of the two-strike counts he got into and induced plenty of weak contact on the day. His changeup got tons of called strikes, and the veteran will now take a 2.63 ERA into an appealing matchup against the Cardinals next week

Michael Wacha pitched seven innings of two-run ball in defeating the Guardians on Monday.
Wacha settled for three strikeouts in a game in which he got misses on just two of 39 swings, but aside from David Fry’s homer in the second, he mostly generated soft contract. His season BABIP is all of the way down to .231. He’s bettered the league average there in four straight seasons, but never by nearly this much. He’s 3-2 with a 3.05 ERA, and he’s scheduled to face the Tigers next time out.

Michael Wacha allowed four runs and eight hits over five innings Wednesday in a loss to the A’s.
Wacha probably wouldn’t have gotten through five if the A’s hadn’t made three outs on the basepaths and given away another on a sac bunt. That said, Wacha was really unfortunate to give up eight hits. He allowed just two hard-hit balls and three with xBAs over .500. This leaves him 2-2 with a 3.13 ERA with the Guardians next on the schedule.

Michael Wacha was tagged for six runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Orioles in Wednesday’s loss.
Wacha gave up a two-run homer to Pete Alonso in the first but then kept the Orioles scoreless until the sixth, when the team erupted for six runs. Wacha was charged with four of those after a walk and three singles, but the big blow came after he departed and Coby Mayo hit a three-run homer off Eli Morgan. It’s Wacha’s first loss this season, as he’d allowed just three runs in four starts prior to today. He rates as a weak play next week in a road start in Sacramento.

Michael Wacha allowed two earned runs over six innings while striking out six in Friday’s loss to the Yankees.
It was another solid start for Wacha, whose two earned runs set a new high for him on the season. The veteran righty struck out five Yankees through 3 1/3 innings of scoreless ball before a two-run homer by Ben Rice broke the scoreless tie. Wacha would stay locked in for the rest of the night and picked up the no-decision thanks to Vinnie Pasquantino tying the game at 2-2 in the eighth inning on a solo homer. Now sitting at 2-0 on the season with a 1.00 ERA, Wacha will look to pick up his third win in his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Orioles.
