Marlins starter Wei-Yin Chen informed the club he is not opting out of his contract, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.

Per Chen’s contract, he had to choose whether or not to exercise each of his options for 2018-20 within four days of the end of the World Series. Those options were worth $10 million, $20 million, and $22 million. That’s part of his overall five-year, $80 million contract signed in January 2016.

Chen, 32, made only five starts and four relief appearances this past season after dealing with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. He is trying to avoid Tommy John surgery.
