Yankees vs. White Sox prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets on July 30

The Yankees (61-47) and the White Sox (56-51) wrap up a four-game series this afternoon at Rate Field with Chicago looking to split the series after being gifted the game last night.

New York was in position to take their third in a row against the Sox last night…on a couple of occasions…before eventually losing to the White Sox in 12 innings, 6-5. A Spencer Jones three-run home run in the first helped propel the Yankees to an early 4-0 lead and Cam Schlittler was his typical dominant self, allowing just two hits and one run over 6.1 innings. However, the bullpen could not hold the lead as the Sox scored three times in the eighth to force extra innings. Chicago’s comeback was sparked by Munetaka Murakami, who homered, walked, and scored three runs and Sam Antonacci added a two-run homer. The Yankees broke the tie with a run in the top of the eleventh and were one out away from their third win in the series until Ali Sanchez’ errant pickoff attempt of Murakami at third allowed the tying run to score. The Sox went on to win the game in the twelfth on a single by Edgar Quero.

The Yankees turn to left-hander Ryan Weathers (4-7, 4.25 ERA) to close out the series this afternoon. The southpaw last pitched Saturday night in Philadelphia allowing six hits and just one run over 5.2 innings in a 3-1 win. Chicago counters with one of its most reliable starters in Sean Burke (7-5, 3.19 ERA). The 26-year-old lost over the weekend at home to Houston allowing four hits and two earned runs over six innings.
