Nationals signed OF Nomar Mazara to a minor league contract.
Mazara spent time with the Orioles during spring training before being released at the end of March after going 9-for-39 (.231) with no homers in 16 Grapefruit League games. He’ll add minor league outfield depth for the Nationals.

    Orioles released OF Nomar Mazara.
Mazara signed a minor league contract with the Orioles last December and won’t make the club’s Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old former top prospect batted .231 (9-for-39) with zero homers this spring in 16 Grapefruit League games. He’s been released to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.

Orioles signed OF Nomar Mazara to a minor league contract.
Mazara will compete for a spot on the Orioles’ Opening Day roster next spring after batting .264/.316/.352 with just two home runs over 171 plate appearances in 55 games last year with the Padres. The 27-year-old former top prospect has bounced around the last few seasons between the Padres, Tigers, White Sox and Rangers. There’s always a chance that he puts it together given his prospect pedigree, but he’s getting close to running out of opportunities.

    Padres released OF Nomar Mazara.
Mazara was released earlier this week after passing through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last weekend. The 27-year-old former top prospect hit just .264/.316/.352 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 171 plate appearances over 55 games this season for San Diego. There’s a chance he finds a new opportunity, but will likely have to settle for another minor league contract.

Padres designated OF Nomar Mazara for assignment.
After signing a minor league deal with the Padres, he had a good run with the big league club and hit .304 in the month of June. Things got worse from there and after losing his starting role in the outfield, this is not a surprising move for San Diego to make. Mazara is still only 27 years old and looks to land on another team soon.

Nomar Mazara went 2-for-2 with two RBI off the bench against the Giants on Friday.
Mazara didn’t get the start, but he improved to .303/.354/.427 in 96 plate appearances since his callup. He should be in the lineup most days for now, making him an option in deeper leagues.

Nomar Mazara is not in the Padres starting lineup for Friday evening’s battle against the Giants.
It looks to be just a regular day of rest with left-hander Sammy Long toeing the slab for the Giants. Mazara has done a nice job in his time with the Padres, hitting .287/.340/.414 with a pair of homers and 13 RBI in 87 at-bats. Jose Azocar will start in his place in right field and bat seventh for the Padres.

Nomar Mazara went 3-for-4 with a double on Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners.
Mazara was one of the few hitters who had success on Tuesday against Logan Gilbert and the Seattle bullpen. The former top prospect has looked the part since being promoted from Triple-A, and is now slashing an impressive .301/.356/.434 in 89 at-bats. He’s absolutely worth roster consideration right now.
