Pierson Ohl will have Tommy John surgery and miss the 2026 season.
Ohl was acquired, along with Eduoard Julien, in a trade with the Twins back in January. It’s unclear when Ohl hurt his elbow, but the 26-year-old will now miss the entire season after putting together an impressive 2.40 ERA in 71 1/3 minor league innings last season with a strikeout rate over 30 percent.

Rockies acquired RHP Pierson Ohl and INF Edouard Julien from the Twins for RHP Jace Kaminska and cash.
Ohl had been designated for assignment last week, so the Twins were able to work him into this larger trade. The 26-year-old made his MLB debut in 2025, posting a 5.46 ERA and 24/7 K/BB ratio across 28 innings over 13 appearances (three starts). However, he did have a 2.40 ERA in 71 1/3 minor league innings with a strikeout rate over 30 percent. He has a deep pitch mix and a plus changeup and could be an option in the Rockies’ rotation.

Twins designated RHP Pierson Ohl for assignment.
Ohl gets the boot with the Twins making the signings of Tyler Rogers and Victor Caratini official. Ohl, 26, will now hit the waiver wire, and a team looking for depth in their pitching ranks could give him a shot.

Twins optioned RHP Pierson Ohl to Triple-A St. Paul.
Ohl retreats to the minors prior to Sunday’s regular-season finale after recording a pedestrian 5.46 ERA and 24/7 K/BB ratio across 28 innings over 13 appearances (three starts) this season at the highest level.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #62
Twins recalled RHP Pierson Ohl from Triple-A St. Paul.
Ohl returns to the big leagues with Minnesota moving on from veteran reliever Brooks Kriske. The 25-year-old rookie has posted a pedestrian 5.66 ERA and 16/5 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings over seven appearances (three starts) since making his big-league debut back on July 29.

Twins optioned RHP Pierson Ohl to Triple-A St. Paul.
Ohl has a 5.66 ERA in three starts and four relief appearances for the Twins. He’ll probably be back to eat some innings in September.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #62
Pierson Ohl was hit hard in Friday night’s loss to the Tigers, giving up seven runs (three earned) on eight hits over his 2 1/3 innings of work.
The 25-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks while striking out just one batter in the contest. He was hurt by his defense during a five-run first inning, as Luke Keaschall booted a would-be double play ball that opened up the flood gates and led to four unearned runs. Ohl got four whiffs on 67 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of only 15 percent. He’ll carry a 7.90 ERA, 1.98 WHIP and a 10/5 K/BB ratio (13 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Athletics.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #62
Pierson Ohl was lit up for four runs in 2 2/3 innings in a start against the Tigers on Wednesday, but he didn’t factor in the decision.
Ohl made his first MLB start, and it didn’t go particularly well. He did strike out three, but of the four hits he allowed, three of them went over the fence. Ohl can provide value to an MLB staff as a multi-inning arm, but it’s hard to picture him ever having fantasy value. It’s worth noting Thomas Hatch was excellent in relief with 4 2/3 scoreless innings, and it could be Hatch and not Ohl who makes his next appearance as a starter.

Twins placed RHP Simeon Woods Richardson on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Aug.1, with an illness.
The Twins said Woods Richardson would start Wednesday after scratching from his Sunday start, but he obviously wasn’t recovering as hoped. Darren McCaughan was called up in his place and could start Wednesday. Pierson Ohl will also likely be an option then. The Twins also just added Taj Bradley and Mick Abel, but they probably won’t be called up before the middle of the month.

Twins recalled RHP Pierson Ohl from Triple-A St. Paul.
Ohl made his MLB debut Wednesday with three innings of four-run baseball, and he’s able to return a couple days later after Minnesota whacked a third of it’s roster in deals. Ohl could make starts, but he’s very much a streamer at best for the final two months of the campaign.
