According to independent journalist Francys Romero, the Astros plan to promote Raynel Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Friday’s series opener against the Royals.
The 26-year-old infielder was acquired from the Rays for cash considerations on Wednesday. He has hit .250/.320/.362 with three homers and 24 stolen bases across 61 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add depth infield depth and speed off the bench for the Astros.

Rays traded INF Raynel Delgado to the Astros for cash considerations.
Delgado was signed to a minor league contract in November after playing for the Brewers’ organization last season. The 26-year-old is hitting .250/.320/.362 with three home runs and 24 steals in 61 Triple-A plate appearances. He will provide organizational depth for the Astros.

Rays signed INF Raynel Delgado to a minor league contract.
Delgado was solid in Triple-A Nashville while a member of the Brewers’ organization with a .281/.363/.378 slash while compiling 40 stolen bases across 125 games. The 25-year-old could win a spot with Tampa Bay as a utility player, but is just as likely — if not more so — to open the season in Triple-A Durham.

Raynel Delgado hit for the cycle and drove in five runs for Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Delgado had just two homers and one triple in 103 games this season before managing one of each last night. The 24-year-old is batting .265/.344/.352 in his first year in the Brewers system. He’s a solid enough defensive shortstop to perhaps be employed as a stopgap injury replacement in the majors someday, but he doesn’t offer much in the way of offensive upside.

Raynel Delgado went 1-for-2 with a single, walk, run scored and a pair of stolen bases as the Brewers fell to the Royals on Sunday.
The 24-year-old singled off of Noah Cameron with one out in the third inning, swiped second base, took third on an overthrow and scored the Brewers’s first run on a sacrifice bunt. Delgado also led off the fifth inning with a walk and took second base, but was ultimately doubled off of third base as Vinny Capra lined out to Jonathan India. Delgado has looked good this spring, hitting .286 (6-for-21) with a homer, two RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
