Rangers signed RHP Ross Wolf to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock.
Wolf was released by the Orioles last week after allowing 12 hits and six earned runs in eight innings at Triple-A Norfolk. The righty will function as depth for Texas.

    Orioles released RHP Ross Wolf.
Wolf allowed 12 hits and six earned runs in eight innings this season for the Orioles’ Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia. The 29-year-old right-hander will try to land a minor league contract from another organization.

Orioles signed RHP Ross Wolf to a minor league contract.
Wolf posted a pedestrian 4.76 ERA and 55/27 K/BB ratio last year in 73 2/3 innings at Triple-A. The 29-year-old will act as organizational relief depth for the O’s in 2012.

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Ross Wolf from Triple-A Round Rock.
He’ll make the start Wednesday in place of Nick Tepesch, who was scratched due to a blister on his finger. Wolf has a 1.85 ERA and 25/9 K/BB ratio in 34 innings this season in Triple-A. The 30-year-old is likely to head right back down to the minors, so he’s not worth chasing in most fantasy leagues.

Ross Wolf will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday to start against the A’s.
Nick Tepesch has a blister on his right middle finger, so Wolf is going to take the mound in his place. Wolf has posted a promising 1.85 ERA and 25/9 K/BB ratio in 34 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the 30-year-old right-hander is not a great fantasy streamer.

Ross Wolf allowed one run in five innings Wednesday against the A’s to pick up his first big-league win.
Wolf entered the day 0-1 in 25 career appearances, all in relief. The journeyman was drafted by the Marlins way back in 2002, and his previous major league appearances had come with the Marlins in 2007 and the A’s in 2010. He’s probably going to head back to Triple-A now, but he put himself in position for another callup later with the nice showing.

Rangers optioned RHP Ross Wolf to Triple-A Round Rock.
Wolf threw 49 pitches over two innings during his last appearance on Wednesday, so the Rangers want a fresh arm for their bullpen. The 30-year-old has a 4.14 ERA and 21/14 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings this season.

The Rangers will call up right-hander Ross Wolf and outfielders Engel Beltre and Joey Butler on Tuesday.
The trio will join the Rangers now that the season has concluded for Triple-A Round Rock. All of them have had stints with the big club this season.

Josh Lindblom will start on Wednesday against Baltimore.
He gets the nod over Ross Wolf. "[Lindblom’s] been doing a good job in Triple-A, and I’d rather keep Wolf in his ... role in the bullpen,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “Lindblom is the one who’s been getting a lot of starter’s innings, and we just want to keep him with that type of focus. If we had to use Wolf, we wouldn’t hesitate.” It should just be a spot start for Lindblom, as Alexi Ogando is due back just after the All-Star break.

The Rangers will start either Neil Ramirez or Ross Wolf in place of the injured Yu Darvish on Thursday in Baltimore.
Ramirez is having a great season at Double-A Frisco, posting a 3.33 ERA and 113/38 K/BB ratio over 92 innings. Wolf was bypassed for Wednesday’s start in favor of Josh Lindblom, as the Rangers preferred to keep him in his relief role. Neither pitcher would be much of a streaming option.
