Ryan Pepiot pitched five innings of one-run ball and struck out seven in the Rays’ 8-3 victory over the Tigers on Saturday.
Although his ERA was fine, Pepiot’s strikeout rate was well down at 19.9% through the end of May. This month, though, he’s fanned 35 in four starts, giving him a 37.2% K rate. There’s no way that’s sustainable, but it still seems like a very good thing. The win today makes Pepiot 5-6 with a 3.04 ERA. He’ll face the Orioles in Baltimore next time out.

Ryan Pepiot recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts and allowed one run over eight innings on Monday in a win over the Orioles.
Pepiot fell just one third strike shy of matching his career-high in the strikeout department as he authored a masterful performance at extremely hitter-friendly George M. Steinbrenner Field against a fully-stocked Orioles lineup, needing just 98 pitches to navigate eight frames. The 27-year-old righty generated an eye-popping 18 swinging strikes, with nearly half of those coming on his four-seam fastball, to finish with an elite 40 percent CSW. A fourth-inning solo shot from Baltimore franchise cornerstone Adley Rutschman was the lone blemish in this one. Pepiot’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in 11 consecutive starts dating back to April 20. He’ll bring a stellar 3.11 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 84/26 K/BB ratio across 89 2/3 innings (15 starts) into a tough home matchup on Saturday against the Tigers.

Ryan Pepiot yielded three runs in 5 2/3 innings and struck out a season-high nine Tuesday in a loss to the Red Sox.
He came up one out shy of notching a sixth straight quality start while throwing a season-high 108 pitches. Pepiot got 19 missed swings tonight, with 14 of those coming on his fastball. That he had just a 20% strikeout rate through the end of May was pretty discouraging, even though his 3.21 ERA was fine, but he’s opened June with 17 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings. He’ll next face the Orioles on Monday.

Ryen Pepiot struck out eight while working six innings of two-run baseball in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Thursday.
Pepiot gave up just three hits with two walks, so there wasn’t much traffic against the 27-year-old. Unfortunately, two of those hits left the park, and the Rays offense was only able to provide a single run of support while he was in the game. Still, it’s a quality outing for the right-hander, and after posting a 2.25 ERA over 36 innings in May, he’s off to a nice start to June. The Red Sox are next for Pepiot.

Ryan Pepiot shut the Astros out over 6 2/3 innings while allowing just two hits and one walk with four strikeouts in a no-decision on Friday.
Pepiot pitched a great game here, he just went up against Framber Valdez who pitched a better one. He leaned on his slider against the Astros’ all right-handed lineup and worked around 10 hard-hit balls to throw up zeroes every inning. Almost all of those hard-hit balls were hit straight up in the air too, so it didn’t feel like Pepiot got lucky to hold them scoreless. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Rangers.

Ryan Pepiot tossed seven scoreless innings and got the win in the Rays’ 13-0 victory over the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Pepiot gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander has completed at least six innings in eight of 11 starts this year. Pepiot lowered his ERA to 3.55, though his xFIP isn’t quite as good at 4.04. He’s benefited from an 81.5 percent left on base percentage this season. Pepiot is set to face the Astros on the road next weekend.

Ryan Pepiot was charged with three runs over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Astros.
Pepiot gave up eight hits, including a second-inning solo homer to Victor Caratini, in addition to run-scoring hits to Cam Smith and Chas McCormick later in the frame. He finished with two strikeouts and only issued one walk, needing 87 pitches (55 strikes) to navigate six fames. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts to open the year. He’ll bring a respectable 3.99 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 47/18 K/BB ratio across 56 1/3 innings (10 starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the division-rival Blue Jays.

Ryan Pepiot struck out seven and gave up three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Pepiot carried a shutout into the sixth inning before coughing up a three-run homer to Alejandro Kirk, which was enough to saddle him with a loss. He finished with seven strikeouts and only handed out one free pass. The 27-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts since April 20. He’ll carry a solid 3.93 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 45/17 K/BB ratio across 50 1/3 innings (nine starts) into a home outing on Monday against the Astros.

Ryan Pepiot pitched well in a tough-luck no-decision against Phillies on Thursday, scattering three hits over six innings of one-run baseball.
Pepiot struck out three batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The only run that the Phillies were able to muster against him came on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Harper in the opening inning after Bryson Stott had doubled and advanced to third on a fly ball. He exited with the Rays leading and in line for a victory but the bullpen was unable to hang on for him. Pepiot generated seven swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 22 percent. He’ll attempt to replicate this fine performance as he carries a 3.86 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 38/16 K/BB ratio (44 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s tilt against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Ryan Pepiot wasn’t at his best in Friday night’s loss to the Yankees, giving up two runs on five hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
Pepiot also issued a pair of walks while recording just one strikeout on the night. He kept the Yankees off the board through the first four innings then exited after putting runners at second and third with one out in the fifth. Mason Montgomery came on and got Ben Rice to strike out but then served up a three-run homer to Paul Goldschmidt that hung two runs and the loss on Pepiot. The right-hander got five whiffs on 88 pitches on the evening, posting a miserable CSW of only 14 percent. He’ll carry a 4.23 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 35/14 K/BB ratio (38 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Phillies.
