Blue Jays farmhand Sean Ochinko doubled, homered and drove home all five of his team’s runs as Mesa defeated Surprise 5-3 in Arizona Fall League action on Friday.
The 26-year-old backstop delivered a two-run double in the sixth inning to get his squad on the board, then belted a game winning three-run blast in the bottom of the eighth. He missed 50 games during the 2014 season due to a positive test for amphetamine and hit just .213/.250/.363 with three homers and 13 RBI in 24 games between Double-A Buffalo and Triple-A New Hampshire. He’s expected to begin the 2015 season back at Buffalo and could see time with the big league club in the event of an injury.
