Seth Lugo yielded two runs in six innings Tuesday against the Pirates.
The runs scored on solo homers from Oneil Cruz and Nick Gonzales. Although he struggled in his first start back from an IL stint on May 30, Lugo has since gone 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA in seven starts, and he’ll be in great demand if the Royals make him available in trade talks. He’s not currently slated to start again in the first half.

Seth Lugo held the Mariners to one run over 6 1/3 innings to get a win on Thursday.
Lugo gave up a solo homer to Jorge Polanco, and outside of that was outstanding. He scattered five hits and struck out seven while lowering his ERA to 2.65 in the process. Lugo’s metrics suggest there’s some good luck, but there’s simply no denying that he gets the job done the overwhelming majority of the time. He’ll have a chance to do the same against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Seth Lugo tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings and got the win in the Royals’ 9-5 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Lugo gave up four hits, walked five and struck out eight. The 35-year-old right-hander has been excellent since coming off the injured list. Over his last six starts, he’s 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 32 innings. He has a 2.74 ERA and 76/28 K/BB in 88 2/3 innings this year. Lugo is lined up to face the Mariners on the road next week.

Seth Lugo was terrific in a tough-luck no-decision against the Padres on Sunday, piling up seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings of one-run baseball.
The 35-year-old right-hander scattered just two hits on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. Lugo allowed a leadoff single to Fernando Tatis Jr. to open the game, then didn’t allow another base runner until Jackson Merrill led off the seventh inning with a double. He left with Merrill on second base with one out and a 2-0 lead. The Royals’ bullpen not only allowed the inherited runner to score, but Lugo’s shot at a victory was gone as well before the inning was through. He generated 14 swings and misses on 90 pitches on the day — four each on his sinker and changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll carry a stellar 2.82 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 68/23 K/BB (83 innings) into Saturday’s tough battle against the Dodgers.

Seth Lugo delivered a dominant performance in Tuesday night’s victory over the Rangers, racking up a season-high nine strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.
The 35-year-old right-hander scattered three hits and one walk on the evening. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Alejandro Osuna in the fourth inning. Aside from that, he was in complete command. Lugo generated 14 swings and misses on 96 pitches in the ballgame — getting at least one swing and miss on six different pitches — while registering a solid CSW of 31 percent. Now 4-5 on the season, he’ll bring an impressive 3.05 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 61/23 K/BB ratio (76 2/3 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Padres in San Diego.

Seth Lugo shut out the Yankees for 5 2/3 innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Thursday.
Although Will Warren continued after the brief 28-minute rain delay tonight, Lugo did not; he was lifted from the scoreless game with two on and two outs in the sixth. Angel Zerpa replaced him and got Cody Bellinger to fly out to escape the jam. Lugo lowered his ERA to 3.18 tonight. He’ll face the Rangers next.

Seth Lugo allowed five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision on Friday against the White Sox.
Uncharacteristically inefficient, Lugo squandered a bit of a golden opportunity against this lowly White Sox lineup. He labored through long innings in both the second and fourth that drove up his pitch count. Then, Mike Tauchman took him deep in the fifth to tie this game. As usual, he mixed his wildly deep 10-pitch mix, but struggled to hit his spots consistently. Still, it’s now been two not-so-great starts since coming off the injured list last week. He’s scheduled to face the Athletics next time out.

Seth Lugo was hit hard in Friday night’s loss to the Tigers, giving up four runs on five hits in just 3 1/3 innings of work.
The right-hander also walked a pair of batters in the ballgame while striking out three. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Riley Greene crushing a two-run shot in the opening inning and Dillon Dingler adding a two-run blast in the second. Lugo got just three whiffs on 69 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 45/17 K/BB ratio (60 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Royals activated RHP Seth Lugo off the 15-day injured list.
Lugo is up to make a start against the Tigers after missing a couple of weeks with a finger sprain. The 35-year-old should remain a solid — if unspectacular — fantasy option, and returns to a 3.02 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over his 56 2/3 innings over nine starts.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Seth Lugo (finger) will be activated from the injured list to start Friday’s game against the Tigers.
Lugo will rejoin Kansas City’s rotation after missing just a couple weeks with a right finger sprain. The 35-year-old righty holds a strong 3.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 42/15 K/BB ratio across 56 2/3 innings (nine starts) this season. His return pushes both Michael Wacha and Kris Bubic back to the weekend.
