Seth Lugo (head) has some swelling in his forehead and said it’s “too early to say” when he’ll get back on the mound.
Fantasy managers should anticipate the possibility that Lugo misses a start or is pushed back a few days after he left yesterday’s game, where he was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Brandon Nimmo. He also mentioned that his left elbow is sore from falling. All and all, this is a positive update considering how scary the injury looked in the moment.

Seth Lugo was removed from Wednesday’s start against the Rangers after being struck in the head by a line drive.
Lugo somehow managed to walk off the field after being struck directly in the head by a 106.6 mph line drive from Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo, his former longtime teammate with the Mets. He left the contest after allowing one run over 3 1/3 innings. The 36-year-old veteran righty will undergo further evaluation and testing for a possible concussion. There should be an update on his status after the contest.

Seth Lugo wasn’t at his best during a no-decision against the Twins on Thursday evening, giving up five runs on six hits across his five frames.
The 36-year-old hurler walked one and struck out four in the ballgame. He struggled to keep the baseball in the yard during this one, serving up a pair of solo homers to Kody Clemens and another to Byron Buxton to open the ballgame. Lugo generated 11 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he totes a 3.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 64/24 K/BB ratio (76 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Rangers.

Seth Lugo allowed three runs -- one earned -- with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
Lugo served up a solo homer to Josh Jung in the first inning. The Rangers brought two unearned runs in to score in the fourth on three hits and an error. Lugo completed two more innings, ending his day after six with six strikeouts. He scattered six hits in all with no walks. The 36-year-old right-hander will carry a 3.55 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 60/23 K/BB ratio across 71 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.

Seth Lugo pitched 6 1/3 innings of three-run ball Sunday in a win over the Mariners.
It’s Lugo’s first win in 10 starts since he beat the Braves on March 29. Lugo succeeded despite getting only three whiffs on 39 swings. He gave up 10 hard-hit balls, including four barrels. However, while Julio Rodríguez homered off him in the first, the remaining three barrels all turned into outs. Lugo will pitch in Texas against the Rangers next weekend, which makes him a streaming option. The Rangers are hitting just .217 and averaging 3.0 runs per game at home this year.

Seth Lugo lost to the Red Sox after allowing two runs in six innings on Monday.
Lugo has had some rough outings of late, but he’s also suffered from quite the lack of support in his strong outings, which is why he’s 1-4 through 10 turns. This is the seventh time he’s allowed two runs or fewer. He has another home start coming up this weekend against the Mariners.

Seth Lugo allowed eight hits and five runs with two walks and four strikeouts across five innings in a loss to the White Sox on Wednesday.
Lugo hasn’t missed bats all season and here, it forced him into too many difficult innings. In fact, he didn’t work a single one-two-three frame all night. Generating just five swings-and-misses while allowed 13 hard-hit balls is a recipe for disaster and it’s a marvel nearly got through this outing with only three runs on his ledger before a two-out, two-run double by Jarred Kelenic of all people brought home the go-ahead runs for the White Sox. Lugo still has a 3.76 ERA on the season, but the regression monster has him in sight. He’s set for a two-start week coming up against the Red Sox and Mariners with both starts at home.

Seth Lugo was pulled after giving up four runs in four innings Thursday against the Guardians.
The typically efficient Lugo walked four and needed 102 pitches to get his 12 outs on Thursday. It’s the first time since last August that he’s failed to complete five innings in a start and the second time in eight starts this year that he’s allowed more than two runs. With the Kansas City offense continuing to do him no favors, he dropped to 1-2 with a 3.21 ERA. He’ll get the White Sox next.

Seth Lugo pitched six innings of two-run ball as the Royals edged the Mariners 3-2 in 10 innings on Saturday.
Lugo allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out six in the no-decision. The Royals went on to win in 10 after automatic runner Michael Massey stole third and scored on Maikel Garcia’s sac fly. Lugo’s ERA increased ever so slightly to 2.68, but it was his fifth quality start in seven tries. He’s slated to face the Guardians in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday.

Seth Lugo surrendered seven runs and 14 hits over 6 1/3 innings in Sunday’s loss to the Angels.
Lugo gave up six runs in the first two innings, but once he survived that, the Royals never had reason to pull him until the seventh. Still, it’s kind of stunning to see a pitcher get the chance to give up 14 hits. It hadn’t happened since Luis Cessa and Braxton Garrett did so in 2023. Lugo hadn’t allowed more than five hits in any of his previous five starts this season. His ERA climbed from 1.15 to 2.63, so he’ll look to bounce back next weekend in Seattle.
