Rays signed RHP Steven Wilson to a one-year, $1.520 million deal to avoid arbitration.
The Rays traded for Wilson back in November. The 31-year-old has posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 195/95 K/BB ratio across 196 innings over the last four seasons. He has some experience closing games, but should be more of a middle reliever in Tampa Bay.

Rays acquired RHP Steven Wilson and RHP Yoendrys Gómez from the White Sox for OF Everson Pereira and 2B Tanner Murray.
Wilson provides Tampa Bay with a reliable workhorse after piling up 201 appearances between the Padres and White Sox over the past four season, recording a sparkling 3.86 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 195/95 K/BB ratio across 196 innings during that span. He figures to operate in a setup role for Tampa Bay, who is going to be looking for a new closer after declining to pick up Pete Fairbanks club option for 2026.

Steven Wilson worked the final two innings to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.
You don’t see many two-inning saves, but Wilson was tasked with getting the final six outs to end Friday’s game, and he did just that. it’s the second save of the season for the veteran 30-year-old, and first since May 23. It’s pretty unlikely he’ll see many more chances.

Steven Wilson worked around a walk in one inning of work to secure the save on Friday against the Rangers.
With this save going to Wilson, the White Sox have now had four different relievers get their last four saves as a team. Wilson is a sweeper-heavy right-handed pitcher whose fastball sits around 94 mph, so not exactly closer stuff there. Regardless, this team won’t win enough games for any of their relievers to have any fantasy value as long as they keep spreading their saves around like this.

Steven Wilson picked up his second blown save of the season on Tuesday night, serving up a game-tying solo homer to Elly De La Cruz in the ninth inning.
Wilson was called upon to face the heart of the Reds’ lineup with the White Sox clinging to 1-0 advantage on Tuesday. He wound up giving up that game-tying blast to De La Cruz after a six-pitch battle, then rebounded to retire each of the next three hitters in order. Wilson was then the beneficiary of the White Sox scoring four times in the home half of the 10th as he snagged his first victory of the season. Cam Booser, who had received the White Sox’ previous save chance, worked a scoreless 10th inning in this one and may be the arm to speculate on in the White Sox’ bullpen for those desperate in saves.

White Sox selected the contract of RHP Steven Wilson from Triple-A Charlotte.
Wilson will give the White Sox a fresh arm in the bullpen, and also hopefully a better one than Mike Clevinger, with Clevinger being designated for assignment in the corresponding move.

White Sox reassigned INFS Bobby Dalbec, Tristan Gray and Chase Meidroth and RHPs James Karinchak and Steven Wilson to minor league camp.
A few “high profile” names here. Dalbec, Wilson and Karinchak have all had various levels of success in the majors, but none were good enough to make the White Sox out of camp. No comment. Several of these players likely have opt-outs, so none are guaranteed to report to Triple-A Charlotte when the season begins.

White Sox sent RHP Steven Wilson outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Somewhat surprisingly, Wilson went unclaimed after being designated for assignment Friday. The right-hander will have to be added to the 40-man roster if Chicago deems him worthy of pitching for the White Sox to open 2025.

White Sox designated RHP Steven Wilson for assignment.
Wilson is booted off the 40-man roster after the White Sox claimed Brandon Eisert off waivers from the Rays. Wilson forged a 5.71 ERA in 34 2/3 innings, but has been successful in the past. A team could have interest in a trade/waiver claim knowing Wilson is only making $950,000 for the 2025 campaign.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the White Sox and RHP Steven Wilson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $950,000 contract.
There was a time last year when Wilson was considered a dark horse for saves in Chicago. Instead, he posted a 5.71 ERA in 34 2/3 innings and was placed on the IL with a back injury in August. The 30-year-old does have a career 4.03 ERA in 140 2/3 MLB innings, so he might be a useful reliever for the White Sox in 2025.
