Trevor McDonald pitched five innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday night.
McDonald struck out six and allowed four hits and four hard-hit balls in one of his best showings to date. He has a 4.15 ERA and a 37/12 K/BB in 39 innings through seven starts. He’s in for a rematch with the Cubs at home next week, which might not be a bad streaming play if their bats are still slumbering.

Trevor McDonald surrendered three runs in five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Brewers.
McDonald has lost three in a row after going 2-0 in three starts to begin his career. Those who grabbed him for a two-start week will have to hope he fares better Sunday against the Cubs.

Trevor McDonald was charged with three runs — two earned — over 6 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
McDonald certainly deserved better in this one as he limited Arizona to just three runs while working into the seventh inning for the third time in five starts since joining San Francisco’s rotation back on May 4. He finished with six strikeouts and only issued two walks. It was an encouraging rebound effort after being tagged for seven runs over 3 2/3 innings against the White Sox his last time out. He’s posted a respectable 4.34 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 27/6 K/BB ratio across 29 innings of work. There’s a strong possibility he’s the odd-man out with Giants ace Logan Webb (knee) returning from the injured list later this week.

Trevor McDonald lost to the White Sox after giving up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings on Friday.
McDonald had his ERA down to 2.04 before giving up seven of the White Sox’s nine runs in the fourth inning took him all of the way up to 4.76. It was more about control than anything else; he hit two batters and walked another while giving up three runs in the frame. If he remains in the rotation, he’ll face the Rockies in Coors next time out. There’s some doubt about whether he’ll stick, as the Giants figure to active Logan Webb next week.

Trevor McDonald picked up a win Saturday after limiting the A’s to one run in 6 2/3 innings.
McDonald gave up 11 hard-hit balls but only five hits, none of which turned into more than doubles. He moved to 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA, which could make things interesting when Logan Webb returns. He doesn’t seem like a particularly good bet going forward, but neither does Aridan Houser nor Tyler Mahle. As things stand now, McDonald should start again next week against the White Sox.

Trevor McDonald yielded three runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.
McDonald, who was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, struck out four and walked two while filling in for Logan Webb. He should make another start Saturday against the A’s, but Webb could be back to replace him afterwards.

Logan Webb (knee) is scheduled to resume throwing on Wednesday.
Webb hit the injured list with right knee bursitis over the weekend but it doesn’t appear the issue will keep him on the shelf for too long. The 29-year-old workhorse figures to make it back before the end of May. It’ll be Trevor McDonald taking his rotation spot for now.

Giants recalled RHP Trevor McDonald from Triple-A Sacramento.
McDonald made his 2026 debut last week, allowing one run over seven innings against the Padres. He was sent down afterwards, but Logan Webb’s IL placement allows him to rejoin the roster, and he’ll start in Webb’s place against the Dodgers, though he could be pushed back from Monday to Tuesday if the Giants want to slide Adrian Houser ahead of him,

Giants optioned RHP Trevor McDonald to Triple-A Sacramento.
McDonald heads back to the minors after recording eight strikeouts and allowing one run over seven innings against the Padres on Tuesday in his season debut. The 25-year-old figures to get another look with the Giants at some point later this summer. His numbers don’t stand out at the Triple-A level, but he’s performed extremely well in a couple chances in the big leagues since 2024.

Trevor McDonald held the Padres to one run over seven innings while striking out eight in a 3-1 win for the Giants on Monday.
McDonald pounded the strike zone; landing 60-of-81 pitches while allowing only two hits. The 25-year-old was just recalled Monday for the series-opener, and he generated 10 swings and misses while allowing a respectable seven hard-hit balls in the process. McDonald impressed in his MLB time last year, as well, but there’s no word yet as to when — or if — he’ll get another turn in the rotation.
