Brewers signed first-round pick SS Trey Ebel.

Ebel heads to Milwaukee to join his older brother Brady, who was the club’s first-round pick last year. The 17-year-old shortstop, who is the son of Dodgers third base coach Dino Ebel, figures to stick at shortstop and boasts an above-average hit tool for his age. He’s obviously a long ways from reaching the big leagues.

Brewers selected Corona HS (CA) SS Trey Ebel with the No. 25 selection of the 2026 MLB Draft.

Ebel is the final pick of the “actual” first round. He’s also the brother of Brady Ebel, whom the Brewers selected in last year’s draft. Nepotism isn’t always bad. Ebel is a slight reach in terms of board value, but shows an above-average hit tool, and he should be able to stick at shortstop. There’s questions about the power, but Milwaukee will have plenty of time to work on adding some to a player who doesn’t turn 18 until September.
