Anthony Bender recorded his first save despite giving up two runs in the ninth Sunday against the Yankees.
Bender was closing in place of Pete Fairbanks, who pitched the first ahead of his paternity leave stint. Lucky for him, he had a three-run lead before walking two and giving up a two-run double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. with two outs. He then intentionally walked Austin Wells before striking out J.C. Escarra, pinch-hitting for José Caballero, to end the game. Bender threw 31 pitches today on the heels of 15 on Saturday, so he’ll need Monday off. Calvin Faucher will also need a break, so Tyler Phillips might be in line to close.

Tyler Phillips was knocked around during Monday’s Grapefruit League loss to the Mets, giving up five runs (one earned) on five hits in his two innings of work.
Phillips struck out three batters in the contest while issuing one walk. The Mets scored four unearned runs in the opening inning, as Christopher Morel started the inning by making an error at first base that allowed the floodgates to open. Phillips then allowed an RBI triple to Carson Benge in the second inning. He got six swings and misses on 45 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. Through four appearances in Grapefruit League action, Phillips holds a 1.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 6/4 K/BB ratio over six innings.

Marlins activated RHP Tyler Phillips from the paternity list.
Phillips rejoins Miami’s relief mix for Tuesday’s game against the Rockies after spending a couple days away from the club on paternity leave. The 27-year-old righty has posted a stellar 3.07 ERA across 70 1/3 innings over 48 appearances this season.

Marlins placed RHP Tyler Phillips on the paternity list.
Phillips will be away from the club for a couple days on paternity leave. The 27-year-old righty has had a strong campaign for the Marlins, recording three saves to accompany a pristine 3.07 ERA across 70 1/3 innings over 48 appearances.

Tyler Phillips tosses a scoreless ninth inning to convert the save against the Mets on Saturday.
Phillips got the call in the ninth inning after Ronny Henriquez pitched the eighth. He worked around two hits, striking out the final batter to record his third save of the season and second in the last week as he’s worked into the closer mix.

Tyler Phillips tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Phillips’ other save came on July 26 against the Brewers. The Marlins have used a number of different relievers in the ninth inning this year, led by Calvin Faucher with 11 saves. It’s easier for fantasy managers to avoid this situation entirely rather than guess how the Marlins might handle the late innings on a given day.

Calvin Faucher tossed a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for his 11th save Saturday against the Yankees.
Faucher is again the Marlins’ top choice in the ninth; he’s earned three of the team’s last four saves, with Tyler Phillips recording the other. Ronny Henriquez, who seemed to have the job one a month ago, has earned just one save since July 3. Henriquez and Phillips both pitched perfect innings to set Faucher up today.

Tyler Phillips worked the final four innings to pick up a save against the Brewers on Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader.
Ah, the ole four-inning save. Beautiful. Phillips literally saved the Marlins bullpen, as he essentially piggybacked with Janson Junk for the final four frames. He allowed just one run, and that came on a homer by Andrew Vaughn in the fourth inning. The Marlins likely won’t ask Phillips or anyone else to procure too many four-inning saves. Call it a hunch.

Marlins acquired RHP Tyler Phillips from the Phillies for cash considerations.
Phillips will join the Marlins as a multi-inning option for their injury-riddled pitching staff. The 27-year-old could make starts for Miami, but shouldn’t make them for your fantasy team.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the Marlins are acquiring RHP Tyler Phillips from the Phillies.
Phillips was designated for assignment Sunday. The 27-year-old will be a multi-inning option for Miami to open the year, but even if he was a starter, he’d be a player to stay away from in all eligible formats. Obviously the ones he’s not eligible for, too.
