White Sox placed RHP Wikelman González on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 21, with a right elbow impingement.
González’s season is over after posting a strong 2.66 ERA and 25/12 K/BB ratio across 20 1/3 innings over 16 relief appearances at the highest level. The 23-year-old rookie should be in the mix for a bullpen role in spring training

White Sox recalled RHP Wikelman González from Triple-A Charlotte.
González returns to the big leagues ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against Atlanta with Elvis Peguero hitting the injured list with an elbow strain. The 23-year-old rookie has looked like he belongs in five relief outings this season at the highest level.

White Sox optioned RHP Wikelman González to Triple-A Charlotte.
González’s latest stint with Chicago lasted roughly 48 hours before being shipped back to bring in a couple fresh relief arms. The 23-year-old rookie right-hander has looked sharp in five relief outings this season at the major-league level.

White Sox recalled RHP Wikelman González from Triple-A Charlotte.
González is up to provide some help in the mid-to-late innings. The 23-year-old’s stuff is impressive, his ability to locate said stuff for strikes remains problematic.

White Sox optioned RHP Wikelman González to Triple-A Charlotte.
González pitched one scoreless inning in his second stint with the White Sox. He still needs to cut down on the walks before he’ll be taken seriously as a bullpen option; he’s issued 34 in 40 2/3 innings in the minors this season.

White Sox recalled RHP Wikelman González from Triple-A Charlotte.
González returns to the majors as extra relief depth for Chicago with rookie starter Shane Smith hitting the injured list with a left ankle sprain. The 23-year-old reliever made two appearances earlier this season for the White Sox. He came over from the Red Sox last offseason as one of the pieces in the Garrett Crochet blockbuster trade.

White Sox optioned RHP Wikelman González to Triple-A Charlotte.
González received his first call up to the big leagues last weekend and wound up allowing two runs over four frames in a pair of relief appearances for the White Sox in his first taste of the majors. The 23-year-old righty came over from the Red Sox as part of the offseason Garrett Crochet blockbuster trade.

White Sox recalled RHP Wikelman Gonzalez from Triple-A Charlotte.
Gonzalez will have a chance to make his MLB debut when he gets into a game. He was acquired in the deal that sent Garrett Grochet to the Red Sox, and he has pitched well in Charlotte with a 2.75 ERA over 19 innings in relief. He could be someone to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues, but the redraft value isn’t there.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher
White Sox acquired RHP Wikelman Gonzalez from the Red Sox in the five-player trade for Garrett Crochet.
Gonzalez will turn 23 near the end of March, and the right-hander was so-so in Double-A with a 4.73 ERA and 92/46 K/BB over 19 starts — 24 overall appearances — in Double-A Portland. He does have a lively arm with a plus fastball and three solid secondary pitches, but the ability to control those offerings is still very much in doubt. For the fourth piece in a trade, however, Gonzalez is a fine get; one with the upside of a mid-rotation starter and the floor of organizational depth with bullpen option the most likely landing spot.

Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox are on the verge of acquiring Garrett Crochet from the White Sox.
McWilliams notes that Kyle Teel is involved in the trade, while Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic notes that Boston will also send Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, and Wikelman Gonzalez in the deal. The Mets, Yankees and a host of other teams all reportedly had interest in acquiring Crochet, but it appears Boston will get arguably the top pitcher available on the market. Assuming there are no hangups, Crochet should pitch at the top of the Boston rotation, and his ability to miss bats makes him one of the best fantasy bets for 2025.
