Yimi García (elbow) won’t be ready for the start of the regular season.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider was hopeful that García might be ready for Opening Day, but that has changed to “100 percent” that he will not be available for the start of 2026. The right-hander will be a high-leverage option in the late innings once available, but for now, there’s an open spot in the Toronto bullpen.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said he’s hopeful Yimi García will be ready for Opening Day following elbow surgery but will be careful with him this spring.
García’s surgery took place in August and was only to clean up scar tissue in his elbow, so it didn’t seem like Opening Day would be in doubt here. Still, bringing him along slowly isn’t a bad idea, as he’s totaled just 60 innings between the last two seasons.

Blue Jays transferred RHP Yimi García to the 60-day injured list.
García is slated to undergo season-ending right elbow surgery. The procedural move frees up a spot on Toronto’s 40-man roster for the club to claim utility infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa off waivers from the Pirates.

Blue Jays’ manager John Schneider announced Friday that right-hander Yimi Garcia will undergo season-ending surgery to clean up scar tissue around his right elbow.
It’s an unfortunate development for the Blue Jays who had been holding out hope that the 35-year-old hurler would be able to return to their bullpen before the season is through. The good news, is that he should be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training in 2026.

Blue Jays’ manager John Schneider told reporters on Thursday that Yimi Garca has been shut down from throwing for two weeks after receiving a cortisone injection in his ailing elbow.
The 34-year-old hurler recently began experiencing ulnar nerve symptoms in his elbow while he was ramping back up following a left ankle sprain. The Jays are hopeful that after a couple of weeks he’ll be able to begin a throwing progression. It sounds like he’s not going to be able to rejoin the Jays’ bullpen until late August at the earliest.

Yimi García (ankle) threw a successful bullpen session in Toronto on Friday.
The 34-year-old hurler is working his way back from a left ankle sprain. The expectation is that he should be ready to return as the Jays are coming out of the All-Star break, though he may need a tune-up or two in a minor league game before being ready to return.

Blue Jays placed RHP Yimi García on the 15-day injured list with a left ankle sprain.
García returns to the injured list for the second time this season. No word yet on the severity of the sprain, which will determine how much time he winds up missing. The 34-year-old veteran remains a key component of Toronto’s high-leverage mix behind closer Jeff Hoffman.

Jeff Hoffman earned his 21st save with a scoreless ninth against the Yankees on Thursday.
Hoffman worked around Jasson Domínguez’s double with one out, though things were a whole lot less urgent for Hoffman after the Jays upped their lead from one run to three in the bottom of the eighth. The appearance tonight was Hoffman’s fourth in five days, so he should get Friday off. Yimi García and Yariel Rodríguez will divvy up late-inning duties if the Jays have a lead.

Blue Jays activated RHP Yimi García off the 15-day injured list.
Garcia is off the injured list after missing over a month with an impingement in his right shoulder. The right-hander will be a high-leverage option for the Jays now that he’s healthy enough to be one.

Yimi García is expected to return from a shoulder impingement early this week.
García has made three rehab appearances at various levels and allowed one unearned run in 2 2/3 innings. He averaged 95.8 mph with his 12 fastballs for Buffalo on Sunday, putting him very close to his season average of 96.0 mph.
