Rockies OF prospect Zac Veen went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run for Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old is now hitting .309 with six home runs, 10 steals, and an .869 OPS in 55 games at Triple-A this season. It remains to be seen if he will get another shot at MLB at-bats once the trade deadline is over.

Zac Veen was activated by Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday after nearly four weeks in Arizona spent at a performance lab and rehabbing an ankle injury.
Veen resumed playing in games Friday, going 2-for-7 with four walks in three Rookie ball appearances. The 23-year-old got off to a fast start at Albuquerque was called up by the Rockies less than two weeks into the season. However, he was sent back down after a 4-for-34 start, and he mostly struggled back in Triple-A, hitting .170/.254/.226 in 14 games in May. If he produces, he’ll likely earn a longer look in the majors in the second half.

Zac Veen went 2-for-4 with two doubles for Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Veen is now hitting .361 with two home runs, one steal, and a 1.051 OPS in 61 at-bats at Triple-A this season. At this point, it seems like the Rockies just need to let the 23-year-old figure it out at the MLB level, but it’s the Rockies, so they probably won’t.

Rockies OF prospect Yanquiel Fernandez went 3-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored for Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Fernandez now has seven home runs on the season to go along with a .254/.322/.592 slash line, 14 RBI and 13 runs scored. He’s also struck out 13 times and walked six in 19 games, which is consistent with his decent strikeout rates throughout his minor league career. Fernandez is just 22 years old, but he also played 33 games at Triple-A last year, so he could push for a big league call-up if he continues to show this kind of power. Both Jordan Beck and Zac Veen didn’t make the most of their first MLB opportunities, and Fernandez is also on the 40-man roster, so perhaps he gets the next shot.

Rockies optioned OF Zac Veen to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Veen is back to the minors with Brenton Doyle back from the bereavement list. Veen will have a chance to help the Rockies again at some point in 2025, but there’s just much risk as reward in his profile even playing his home games in Coors Field.

Zac Veen blasted this first home run of his big league career on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to power the Rockies past the Nationals in the first game of their doubleheader.
The 23-year-old phenom victimized Nationals’ right-hander Jake Irvin for his 412-foot (103.4 mph EV) in the third inning, pulling the Rockies to within two runs at 3-1. He was also hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and swiped the first base of his career before being stranded there. Veen finished the day 1-for-2 and is now hitting .133/.212/.267 with a homer, two RBI and a stolen base through his first 10 games with the Rockies.
  • COL Center Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Padres.
It appears to be just a routine night off for the dynamic center fielder. He’s off to a sensational start to the 2025 season, slashing .302/.339/.528 with three homers, 12 RBI and a stolen base through his first 12 games. Zac Veen will slide up to the leadoff spot in the lineup with Doyle sitting on Friday.
  • COL Right Fielder #13
Zac Veen collected his first big league RBI with a run-scoring double in the eighth inning on Thursday, helping to lead the Rockies past the Brewers.
The dynamic 23-year-old outfielder reached on a fielder’s choice in the third inning and attempted to steal his first base with the Rockies, but he was out by an eyelash at second base on a perfect throw from Eric Haase. He then crushed a ball off the wall in right field in the eighth inning, plating Brenton Doyle to extend the Rockies’ lead to five runs at 7-2. Veen has started each of his first three games — and hit second in the lineup on Thursday — though he’s just 2-for-12 (.167) with one RBI thus far. Fantasy managers just have to hope that the Rockies keep the faith and allow him to take his lumps in the lineup.

Zac Veen went 1-for-4 with a bunt single in his big league debut against the Brewers on Tuesday night.
After fouling out and striking out in his two at-bats against Freddy Peralta, Veen dropped down a beautiful bunt single against Abner Uribe in the sixth inning to log his first career hit. The 23-year-old top prospect started in right field and batted seventh for the Rockies on Tuesday and is expected to see everyday action in a corner outfield spot. His dynamic blend of power and speed make him a worthwhile target in all leagues where he may still be available.
  • COL Right Fielder #13
Zac Veen is in right field and batting seventh on Tuesday against the Brewers.
Veen will make his highly-anticipated big-league debut on Tuesday night after hitting .387 with one homer, eight RBI and one steal in eight games for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 23-year-old former top prospect missed a ton of development time due to injury after being selected ninth overall back in 2020. He’s an above-average runner with decent contact skills, which should translate to high batting averages and a ton of stolen bases in Colorado. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats as a potential high-impact five-category contributor.
