MECHANICSVILLE, Maryland: All season long, Chance Hymas has said he didn’t care about where he finished. He steadily improved and finished on the podium in the last three rounds and kept insisting he wasn’t worried about the overall win.
That changed this week in the Budds Creek National. He earned the holeshot and took control of the race to win the second moto and the overall.
Along with his third place finish in Moto 1, Hymas was scored the overall winner to set a record for the season as the seventh winner.
It was a hard fought win as he had to hold off Levi Kitchen for most of the second half of the race. Kitchen overcame a poor finish in the first moto in an effort to salvage as many points as possible.
Cole Davies challenged for the lead early but he could not afford to take very many risk got hung up in a rut on Lap 11 and handed second to Kitchen. Davies settled into the position and finished third overall, which combine with his Moto 1 win for second overall.
Julien Beaumer finished fourth in Moto 2
Drew Adams rounded out the moto top five.
Landen Gordon finished seventh in Moto 2, but with his third in the first race, he was scored third overall.
Carson Mumford crashed early in Moto 2 injured in Lap 1 crash.
