Justin Barcia returns for RedBud, Ducati adds Tony Cairoli for the weekend

Justin Barcia returns to the Pro Motocross series for the RedBud National in Buchanan, Michigan, after missing one round with a strained back.

Barcia dabbed his leg in qualification, but mounted up for the first moto before deciding to skip the second race. He also missed both motos at High Point Raceway, but the first break in the outdoor schedule gave him another week to heal.

“I am stoked to be back especially for RedBud on the 4th of July,” Justin Barcia said in a news release. “I tweaked my back at Thunder Valley and was experiencing some spasms. So, we decided to capitalize on the weekend off after High Point and decided to sit out High Point to give me some extra time to heal up. But I’m back, ready to get behind the gate, and have some fun celebrating the 4th of July at RedBud.”

Barcia is currently 24th in the combined SuperMotocross standings. He is currently 50 points outside of the top 20, which guarantees a start in all three SuperMotocross Playoff races.

Ducati riders Barcia and Dylan Ferrandis will be joined by Tony Cairoli this weekend.

Cairoli made two starts in the Pro Motocross series last year. He finished 14th at RedBud overall on the strength of one completed moto. He was ninth in the first race. He was scored 15th overall at Spring Creek with results of 23rd and 10th.

In 2026, Cairoli will add Southwick to his schedule in addition to RedBud and Spring Creek.

“For these three rounds I’m pretty pumped because last year I had good times [racing RedBud and Spring Creek] and this year the bike is in a much better spot with improvements and development,” Tony Cairoli said. “I think it will be nice to line up for these three rounds and see those bike improvements in a race scenario. I am familiar with the tracks from last year and I’m excited to see all the American fans again, I felt
welcome last year and I’m excited to do it again this year.”

The Coenen brothers are expected to also race at Southwick, which will give that race a distinctly international feel.
