Mayla Herrick and SLR Honda have signed a two-year extension, which will see teenager compete in the 2027 and 2028 Women’s Pro Motocross (WMX) seasons. Herrick joins as a teammate alongside Mikayla Nielsen as the team seeks “deepen [its] dedication to women’s professional motocross.”
Herrick won her first WMX moto on debut on her 17th birthday, the first day she was eligible to compete. She crashed at the front of the field in Moto 2 the following day during halftime of the men’s program and finished ninth overall.
Her first podium in WMX came in the next outing and she finished second overall in the series finale at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Herrick was contending for the lead in the SMX finale, Ridgedale Invitational, when she clipped a Tuff Blox and crashed.
“WMX is such an exciting space in motocross right now,” Team Owner Mark Samuels said in a social media post. “With a growing audience, stronger races, and live TV coverage, these incredible women are finally getting the spotlight they deserve. We’re eager to be part of this journey and help drive the sport forward.”
Every moto of the WMX series was available through Pro Motocross’ YouTube page for the Friday moto and as part of Peacock.tv’s Saturday coverage of the SuperMotocross World Championship.
