Marcus Sasser (hip) is available for Saturday’s game against the Timberwolves.
Sasser is good to go for Saturday’s game, but so is Caris LeVert, which may limit his opportunities off the bench. There isn’t much to gain from streaming Sasser, especially with Daniss Jenkins playing well as Cade Cunningham’s replacement in the starting lineup.
  • DET Guard #25
Marcus Sasser (hip) is doubtful to play against the Hawks on Wednesday.
Sasser is expected to remain sidelined for a third straight game with this hip injury. Daniss Jenkins will continue to fill out most of the point guard minutes with Cade Cunningham (lung) sidelined, while Caris LeVert and Ausar Thompson will also help out with ball handling duties.
  • DET Guard #24
Daniss Jenkins had 30 points (11-of-18 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, eight assists and four three-pointers in the Pistons’ 113-110 victory over the Lakers on Monday.
Jenkins helped the Pistons snap the Lakers’ nine-game winning streak with a career-high 30 points. The 24-year-old point guard had his best game since taking over as the starter since Cade Cunningham (lung) was sidelined. Jenkins hit a baseline jumper with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to put the Pistons ahead for good. Detroit is 9-2 when Jenkins starts this year. While his scoring can be inconsistent, he should provide assists and steals at an excellent clip for the rest of the season.
  • DET Guard #24
Daniss Jenkins accumulated 22 points (7-of-12 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), seven rebounds, eight assists, one steal and one three-pointer in Friday’s win over the Warriors.
After struggling in the first game he and the Pistons played after losing Cade Cunningham to a collapsed lung, Jenkins was far better on Friday. The second-year guard was efficient as a playmaker and scorer, finishing two assists shy of a double-double. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, the Pistons don’t play again in Week 21. However, they do have four games in Week 22, starting with the Lakers on Monday.
  • DET Guard #24
Daniss Jenkins scored nine points (3-of-16 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs) with two rebounds, five assists, one block and two three-pointers in Thursday’s win over the Wizards.
With Cade Cunningham (lung) out for at least two weeks, the door is open for Jenkins to be a league winner for fantasy managers. Unfortunately, the second-year guard had a rough night shooting the basketball, making one of his nine two-point attempts. Jenkins shot the ball slightly better from two, but the 3-of-16 night won’t do managers any favors. Caris LeVert (14/5/2/4) was more productive coming off the bench, but he logged 22 minutes to Jenkins’ 34.
  • DET Guard #24
Daniss Jenkins, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson, Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren will start against the Wizards on Thursday.
With Cade Cunningham (lung) set to miss at least two weeks, Jenkins will enter the starting unit at the point guard spot. He has has success as a starter this year and should provide plenty of assists and steals over the next few weeks.
  • DET Guard #2
Cade Cunningham (lung) will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Cunningham had to leave Tuesday’s win over the Wizards with back spasms, but the issue is worse than that. The Pistons announced on Thursday that he has been diagnosed with a collapsed lung and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Daniss Jenkins was the replacement in the starting lineup the last time Cunningham missed time, and he’s a worthwhile pickup for fantasy managers. Marcus Sasser and Caris LeVert may also take on enhanced roles in Cunningham’s absence.
  • DET Guard #2
Cade Cunningham (back) is out for Thursday’s game against the Wizards.
Injured during the first quarter of Tuesday’s win over the Wizards, Cunningham has already been ruled out for Thursday’s rematch. Daniss Jenkins has been the replacement in the lineup in prior instances when Cunningham wasn’t available, and that may be the case in this spot as well. Marcus Sasser and Caris LeVert may also see their opportunities to serve as playmakers within the rotation.
  • DET Guard #24
Daniss Jenkins started the second half on Tuesday and contributed 15 points (4-of-9 FGs), two rebounds, seven assists, two steals, one block and two three-pointers against the Wizards.
Cade Cunningham (back) exited this game after playing just five minutes, which allowed Jenkins to start the second half and play 21 minutes. He ended up having a productive outing, and he has had success this year when there have been injuries in front of him in the backcourt. They have a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday, so if Cunningham ends up missing time, Jenkins could be in for more strong outings.
  • DET Guard #2
Cade Cunningham (back) won’t return to Tuesday’s game against the Wizards.
Cunningham had six points in five minutes before heading to the locker room early in Tuesday’s game against the Wizards. The 24-year-old point guard ended up being ruled out for the rest of the game with back spasms, according to the Pistons. With Cunningham out, Daniss Jenkins and Marcus Sasser figure to handle the point guard duties for Detroit.
