    Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 22 points (9-of-14 FGs, 4-of-6 FTs) with two rebounds, three assists, and a block in Greece’s loss to Germany on Tuesday.
    Antetokounmpo and company got off to a strong start and lead for most of the first half. However, Germany’s depth proved to be too much in the end. Greece has been eliminated from the tournament ahead of the medal rounds.

    Greece dropped their first two games of the Olympics, but they were finally able to get a win. They held a 17-point lead at halftime and were able to hold on in the second half. Giannis once again led the team in scoring, though this was his lowest-scoring game of the Olympics. He did more facilitating in this game and had six assists after having a total of four in the first two games. Depending on how the point differential plays out in the Canada-Spain matchup, Greece could still advance in the tournament.

    The Greek Freak couldn’t drag his squad to a victory against Spain. Greece’s in now 0-2 in group play. Antetokounmpo and company will need to secure a win against Australia to move forward and he’ll likely give whatever he has left in the tank to avoid elimination.

    Giannis nearly helped Greece complete a dramatic comeback, but they ended up falling just short. Still, it was a dominant performance from Antetokounmpo in his Olympic debut, and he even had some success at the free throw line. Without any other current NBA players on the team, Giannis will continue to be their superstar. He nearly helped them upset Canada, and he’ll look to help them secure a win over Spain in their next game on Tuesday.

    On Saturday, Greece national team coach Vassilis Spanoulis said that Giannis Antetokounmpo (left soleus strain) has committed to playing in next month’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
    Antetokounmpo missed Milwaukee’s final three regular season games and the entirety of the team’s first-round series against the Pacers due to his calf injury. The Olympic Qualifying Tournament that Greece will participate in does not begin until July 2, but the early commitment is a positive sign regarding Giannis’ health. Among the other nations in the six-team event is Slovenia, which Luka Doncic should lead. Four six-team tournaments will be played next month to round out the men’s basketball field for the Paris Olympics, with the winner of each advancing.
