The Jazz have signed Seton Hall C Romaro Gill to an Exhibit 10 contract.
Utah is looking to improve its second-unit defense, as the team struggled to put together stops when defensive pillar Rudy Gobert was on the bench. Kansas’ Udoka Azubuike was the team’s first-round pick Wednesday night, and he should slot into the backup center role that was vacant after Tony Bradley was traded to Detroit. As for Gill, he’s a 7-foot-2 center who made impressive strides during his time at Seton Hall. After averaging just under 11 minutes per game as a junior, Gill was the Big East’s Most Improved Player and its Defensive Player of the Year in 2020. Last season he averaged 7.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 blocked shots per game, while shooting 62.8 percent from the field. Gill could ultimately be sent to Utah’s G-League affiliate with an eye towards developing him into a center capable of providing quality minutes down the line.
