Patriots selected Michigan OT Andrew Stueber with the No. 245 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Stueber (6'7/338) started 22 games for the Wolverines, mostly at right tackle. He made first-team All-Big Ten in 2021, a key component in Michigan’s top rushing attack that landed them a spot in the College Football Playoff. He has all the size you could ask for, but he has just average arm length and a below-average wingspan (37th percentile). The way he uses his hands and arms though is fantastic, punching hard with well-timed and accurate strikes. He’s got the size to play tackle, but his lack of mobility and overall athleticism (5.09 relative athletic score) will probably shift him inside at the NFL level. That’s fine because he can leverage his power better there, and his weaknesses will get exploited less. His run-blocking is his strength, driving forward and dominating the trenches. His pass blocking isn’t shabby either, as long as there isn’t a ton of space to exploit his slow feet and go around him. He has the power to stymie bull rushers and the patience to fend off the trickier rushers as well. He may not be the most agile guy you’ve ever seen, but as a road-grader in a power run game, Stueber can do some real damage.
