Falcons signed RB Brian Robinson, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.
It’s backup money, and Robinson will now caddy for Bijan Robinson after spending the 2025 season behind Christian McCaffrey. It’s not great news for Robinson’s fantasy prospects barring an injury to Robinson. It’s also not incredible news for Robinson’s fantasy prospects that the Falcons managed to replace Tyler Allgeier with an above-average backup that is worthy of work. What it is? A good signing for the price by a team that needed another running back. And a confusing grouping of B.Robinsons for inexperienced fantasy football managers to have to remember.

The Athletic’s Vic Tafur and Matt Barrows report the 49ers have interest in bringing back RB Brian Robinson.
Robinson’s free agency has been slow to this point in the legal tampering cycle, but he figures to be involved in a few places. We wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted a bigger opportunity than he figures to get behind Christian McCaffrey. He didn’t crack 10 carries in a single game with the 49ers after coming over in a trade before the season.

Brian Robinson rushed three times for four yards in the 49ers’ Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks.
It is very funny to wind up as a backup plan for Christian McCaffrey and somehow never be needed, but that’s how Robinson spent this year. He rushed for a 92/400/2 line and played in all 17 games, but maxed out at nine carries in a single game. Robinson enters free agency as someone who has proven himself as a reliable committee member, not a full-time starter. His fantasy value will be dependent on the situation he winds up in.

Brian Robinson Jr. rushed twice for nine yards in the 49ers’ Week 18 win over the Seahawks.
It’s Robinson’s lowest touch total since Week 8’s loss to Houston where he bageled. Robinson will see out the final days of his rookie contract in the NFC Wild Card round as a pure backup to Christian McCaffrey. He finishes the regular season with 92 carries for 400 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
  • SF Running Back #3
Brian Robinson had eight rushes for 26 yards in the 49ers’ Week 13 win against the Browns.
Robinson now has eight rushing attempts in each of the Niners’ past three games, playing the breather back role behind Christian McCaffrey, who handled 24 touches on Sunday against Cleveland. Robinson should be stashed in all leagues in case CMC misses time with injury down the stretch of the regular season. Robinson would profile as a must-start option in 12-team leagues if McCaffrey were to go down.

Brian Robinson rushed eight times for 24 yards in the 49ers’ Week 11 win over the Cardinals.
Robinson continues to work behind McCaffrey, spelling him for a few touches a game. Despite the blowout, Robinson still only got eight touches to McCaffrey’s 18 touches. His role is that of premium backup for now, with touchdown-dependent FLEX value in deep leagues. Robinson will need a touchdown to reach fantasy relevance for Week 12 against the Panthers.

Brian Robinson rushed eight times for 41 yards and a touchdown in San Francisco’s Week 10 loss to the Rams.
Mostly an afterthought after a pair of zero-carry games in October, Robinson has now reeled off back-to-back games of 40 or more yards and a score. The role is still pretty tiny — he had just 14 snaps here and nine last week — and it keeps him from being more than a what-the-heck FLEX against the Cardinals in Week 11.

Brian Robinson rushed five times for 53 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ Week 9 win over the Giants.
Robinson picked up three of his five carries on the 49ers’ second-to-last drive before their kneel-downs. Christian McCaffrey softened up the defense with five straight runs. Robinson then came in and gashed them for 23 yards on three consecutive rushes. The 49ers aren’t likely to be in such positive game script versus the Rams next week. Robinson remains a contingency bet but nothing more heading into Week 10.
  • SF Running Back #3
Brian Robinson caught 3-of-3 targets for eight yards in the 49ers’ Week 6 loss over the Buccaneers.
He managed just five snaps. Robinson’s fantasy value remains tethered to Christian McCaffrey’s health. He simply doesn’t see enough work to be startable at this point.
  • SF Running Back #3
Brian Robinson rushed five times for 21 yards in San Francisco’s Week 4 loss to the Jaguars.
That’s not terrible production for just six snaps, but we’re not in the habit of starting guys with six snaps in fantasy leagues. Robinson has no stand-alone value at this point and anyone holding him is in the Christian McCaffrey injury Waiting Room business.
