    Cowboys signed K Connor Hughes.
Dallas is not expected to retain restricted free agent Shaun Suisham, leaving Hughes and 2009 fifth-round pick David Buehler as the team’s only kickers on the roster. They also worked out Sandro DeAngelis of the CFL last week.
  • DAL Kicker (FG)
Connor Hughes is expected to compete with David Buehler for Cowboys’ field goal duties in 2010.
Per beat writer Tim MacMahon, the team’s brass would prefer not to draft a kicker after using a pick on one in two of the past three years. Free agent Matt Stover could be a veteran fallback option if Hughes and Buehler disappoint.
  • FA Kicker (FG) #19
Beat writer Todd Archer calls David Buehler the “odds-on favorite” to handle field-goal duties in 2010.
With Buehler already booming kickoffs, the Cowboys have gone the cheap route, bringing in the inexperienced Connor Hughes to compete. Buehler has given no reason to believe that he’s accurate enough for the job, so Dallas will likely keep Matt Stover on speed dial.
  • DAL Kicker (FG)
Cowboys waived K Connor Hughes, CB Marquis Floyd, WR Rashaun Greer, TE Nick Tow-Arnett, and OG Chet Teofilo.
Hughes was never a serious competitor for the Cowboys kicking job, with the offseason goal being to pump up David Buehler’s confidence. Buehler will still have to prove himself in training camp, though, and veteran Matt Stover’s number is likely on speed dial.
