The Patriots were not willing to franchise him or make him one of the highest paid interior lineman in the league. They did ask Woody to give them the chance to match any competing offers.

Miami is expected a large offer to Woody, who rejected a deal earlier to stay in New England. Detroit says that they are close to a long-term agreement.

We’ve seen this in a few places. Woody was reportedly 20 pounds overweight after receiving an $11.5 signing bonus to play for Detroit this offseason.

Woody’s hand was broken in minicamps. He underwent surgery for it this week.

“We’ll see what the doctor says,” Woody said. “Hopefully, it’ll be all right.”

The Lions starter is wearing a hard cast.

“Am I disappointed? Yeah,” Woody said. “I am just hopeful I can be a professional and do everything I need to do and get even better. That’s what I am going to do. I am going to come back to work and step this thing up a little bit more.”

It appears Woody will remain a Lion this season. Bryant is penciled in to start opposite Stanley Wilson with A.J. Davis and Travis Fisher also in the mix.
