Texans signed defensive backs coach Dino Vasso to a contract extension.
Vasso had been a candidate for the Browns, Raiders, Titans and Cardinals defensive coordinator openings, but will instead stay put in Houston with a contract extension. These were the first major sniffs of interest Vasso has had for a coordinator opening, but the league-wide amount of interest in him bodes well for his chances of eventually getting a job down the line.

Texans defensive pass game coordinator Cory Undlin and DB coach Dino Vasso are candidates for the Browns’ defensive coordinator vacancy.
The report comes from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who notes that the Texans run the same defensive scheme as the Browns. Browns DC Jim Schwartz resigned yesterday. Undlin spent 2015-2019 coaching defensive backs with the Eagles. Schwartz ran the Eagles’ defense from 2016-2020. Vasso signed on with the Eagles as a defensive quality control coach and assistant secondary coach in 2016. He was promoted to the title of assistant coordinator/defense in 2020.

Cardinals requested an interview with Texans defensive backs coach Dino Vasso for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
Vasso interviewed with Tennessee for their DC opening in January but didn’t get the job. Ariona also requested an interview with Giants OLBs coach Charlie Bullen for their DC job. Expect them to bring in a few more names over the next week. Vasso has been a position coach for the Texans since 2021.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports Texans secondary coach Dino Vasso is a “name of interest” for the Cardinals defensive coordinator vacancy.
Vasso also interviewed for the Titans DC job before it went to Gus Bradley. Breer adds Rams assistant head coach Aubrey Pleasant is a possibility for the job. As one of the last teams to fill their head coaching vacancy, the Cardinals are going to be left trying to find up-and-comers for their coordinator positions.

The Titans have requested permission to interview Texans DBs coach Dino Vasso for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
Texans DC Matt Burke is reportedly pushing for Vasso to get the promotion. It’s unclear if Vasso would actually get to call plays under defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh, but it would inarguably be a promotion. 38-year-old Vasso has been bouncing around NFL coaching staffs since 2013, starting under Andy Reid in Kansas City.
