Bengals selected Miami DB D.J. Ivey with the No. 246 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ivey (6'1/189) ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at Miami’s pro day and tested as an above-average corner with a 7.87 RAS. He totaled 127 tackles and five interceptions in his career, with his best season coming in his final year with the Hurricanes. Ivey has ideal height and length for a cornerback but has proven more than susceptible to the big play throughout his career. He’ll need to tighten up his coverage if he hopes to one day contribute to an NFL defense. For now, he’ll likely spend most of his time focusing on special teams.

According to Susan Degnan Miller of the Miami Herald, Miami sophomore CB DJ Ivey has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against Florida due to a violation of team rules.

With Nigel Bethel announcing his decision to transfer earlier this week, the Hurricanes were already low on numbers at cornerback. Now Ivey (6'1/195), who was listed as a co-starter with Al Blades Jr. on the team’s depth chart, has been ruled out. Blades will in all likelihood start opposite junior Trajan Bandy, with true freshmen and four-star recruits Te’Cory Couch and Christian Williams next in line. Ivey appeared in 11 games as a freshman, with the majority of his playing time coming on special teams.
