Wand returns after being cut just hours prior to Oakland’s regular season opener. McQuistan has been a bust since being drafted 69th overall in 2006.

Adams is scheduled to resume practicing Sunday night. His workload will likely be limited for the duration of camp.

Adams moved gingerly pulling on sweeps at practice Saturday. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL.

Adams, who tore his ACL and missed 2005, lined up with the first-team offense Saturday. Head coach Bill Parcells noted the likely starter looked “overweight and rusty” in early work.

Adams missed the final two preseason games, but appears set to go this week. He’ll start at left tackle and try to keep QB Drew Bledsoe upright against Jacksonville.

Adams was released after refusing to take a paycut on his scheduled $5 million salary. The Steelers have moved rookie Marcus Gilbert into the starting lineup, but both tackles figure to remain an issue all season long.

Lombardi says that both will have to wait for injuries to strike to get a contract, but Adams isn’t even getting sniffs from the injury-ravaged Broncos. Both players are in the decline phase of their careers, but we suspect Adams can still be a starting-caliber tackle. His athleticism is gone but he’s powerful -- and dirty -- enough to get the job done.

Losing Adams, who tore his right ACL, is a big blow to the Cowboys’ offense.

Adams was the key cog of an improved Cowboys offensive line this season. It’s unclear who will replace him, but it’s a bad sign for the Dallas passing game. TE Dan Campbell may stay in to block more.

All three had offseason surgery. Adams’ availability for day one, even if he’s not 100 percent, is huge news for the Dallas line. He needs to play better this year for the passing game to excel.
