Grant Calcaterra caught 5-of-5 targets for 30 yards in the Eagles’ Week 9 win against the Jaguars.
Working as the team’s No. 1 tight end with Dallas Goedert (hamstring) still sidelined, Calcaterra was second among Eagles pass catchers in targets, functioning as a reliable dump off option for Jalen Hurts. Calcaterra, who ran a pass route on 32 of Hurts’ 37 drop backs against the Jags, now has eight catches for 88 yards over the past two games. He should be viable in deeper leagues for as long as Goedert is sidelined.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Goedert has been out since suffering the hamstring injury early in Week 6 versus the Browns. He has yet to return to practice and looks unlikely to suit up in Week 9. Backup Grant Calcaterra has taken his place in the lineup. He has four receptions for 63 yards in two starts.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra caught 3-of-3 targets for 58 yards in the Eagles’ Week 8 win over the Bengals.
Calcaterra continued to fill in for the injured Dallas Goedert (hamstring) and caught a few deep targets on the day. He was the No. 3 pass-catching option, with a 28-yard catch his longest of the game. Jack Stoll also saw increased snaps with Goedert out, catching his only target for six targets, though he was primarily in for blocking. If Goedert continues to miss time, Calcaterra has low-end TE2 fantasy viability.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra caught 4-of-4 targets for 67 yards in the Eagles’ Week 6 win over the Browns.
With Dallas Goedert going down in the opening moments of the game with a hamstring injury, Calcaterra operated as the Eagles’ No. 3 passing-game weapon. It wasn’t the first time this season Calcaterra has popped up, but not even a Week 7 Goedert absence against the Giants would make his backup TE2 fantasy relevant.
  • PHI Tight End #85
Eagles placed TE Albert Okwuegbunam (core) on injured reserve.
The former Denver Bronco fantasy darling seemed likely to push for back-up duties behind Dallas Goedert but he underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will be out for 6-8 weeks. It’s possible Albert O will return to the field in the second half of the season. For now, that means Grant Calcaterra is the only tight end behind Goedert.
  • Tight End #84
Eagles activated TE Tyree Jackson (ACL) from the PUP list.
A converted quarterback with athleticism to spare, Jackson should be considered the favorite to replace Dallas Goedert (shoulder), who on Wednesday was placed on injured reserve and will miss at least the next four games. Jackson in Week 18 last season was targeted four times on 27 pass routes, catching three for 22 yards and a touchdown. Jackson is a sneaky waiver add in deeper formats. Jack Stoll and Grant Calcaterra will mix in at tight end too.

  • PHI Tight End #88
Dallas Goedert (shin) is questionable to return against the Commanders.
Goedert was having a solid outing before the first half injury, catching three balls for 26 yards and a touchdown as Jalen Hurts sliced and diced Washington’s overmatched coverage unit. With Goedert sidelined, Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll are splitting pass route running duties.

  • PHI Tight End #81
Eagles selected Southern Methodist TE Grant Calcaterra with the No. 198 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Calcaterra (6'4/241) retired after three years at Oklahoma due to multiple concussions. He decided to give it another go in 2021, however, transferring to SMU where he put up a 38-465-4 receiving line. He showed well at the Combine with a 4.62 40, and he posted a 32.5-inch vertical at his Pro Day. There are big questions about his health, and those almost certainly hurt his draft stock. That said, he has the size, speed, and receiving ability to make an impact as a pass-catching tight end. He will spend the first few years of his career as Dallas Goedert’s backup.

  • PHI Tight End #81
SMU redshirt junior TE Grant Calcaterra caught seven passes for 108 yards in a 39-37 victory over Louisiana Tech.
Though Calcaterra (6'5/247) retired for a season due to concussion issues, he has shown to be no worse for wear since transferring to SMU in the offseason. The former Sooner had already caught five passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns in his first two games, and now has added his the 100-yard game of his career to his resume. He was vital as a safety valve option when QB Tanner Mordecai needed a first-down and caught three passes on their final drive to help secure the Mustangs’ dramatic last-second victory. SMU travels to play Big 12 opponent TCU next Saturday.

  • PHI Tight End #81
SMU redshirt junior TE Grant Calcaterra is listed as the team’s starter ahead of Saturday’s game against Abilene Christian.
Calcaterra (6'5/247), who was very good during his time at Oklahoma, joined the SMU program as a grad transfer in mid-January. As many expected, he has managed to lock down the starting tight end position as the Mustangs get prepared for their season opener. Calcaterra, who caught 41 passes for 637 yards and nine touchdowns at Oklahoma, will be a key target for QB Tanner Mordecai (who also transferred to SMU after beginning his career at OU).
