Grant Calcaterra was not targeted in the Eagles’ Wild Card loss to the 49ers.
The only time Calcaterra managed a mention was when he drew Eagles fans’ ire for his poor blocking in the running game. Dallas Goedert is headed to free agency, but could end up back in Philadelphia depending on what happens with disgruntled No. 1 wideout A.J. Brown. In theory, that could lead to more opportunities for Calcaterra, but he’s 27 years old with 42 career receptions, only nine of which came this year. He himself is also a free agent, though he’s the kind of role player who typically ends up re-signing.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Eagles TE Grant Calcaterra (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Calcaterra left the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the Commanders early after an unflagged hip drop tackle. The 27-year-old has operated as the Eagles’ primary backup tight end behind Dallas Goedert, who was limited in Wednesday’s practice. If Calcaterra cannot go for the Wild Card round against the 49ers, Kylen Granson figures to be the primary backup at tight end.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra caught 2-of-3 targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the Commanders.
Calcaterra took over as the Eagles’ starting tight end with Dallas Goedert out for Week 18. He made a 15-yard touchdown catch to open scoring in the second quarter and was available frequently in the intermediate area. He suffered ankle/knee injuries on an unflagged hip drop tackle in the third quarter, leading to a locker room visit. Calcaterra returned to the sideline but Kylen Granson finished the game at tight end, catching 4-of-5 targets for 30 yards. Neither Calcaterra nor Granson are relevant when Goedert is playing, but Granson may see increased opportunities in the Wild Card against the 49ers if Calcaterra’s injury is serious.
  • PHI Guard #69
Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reports Landon Dickerson (ankle) could miss the next “1-2 games.”
There’s little chance of Dickerson or Grant Calcaterra (oblique) suiting up for Thursday’s game against the Giants. It sounds like Week 7, though, remains in play for both. The Eagles went with Brett Toth when Dickerson suffered the injury against Denver and he’d be the likely replacement on Thursday night.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Eagles TE Grant Calcaterra suffered an oblique injury in Week 5 against the Broncos and will not return.
Dallas Goedert’s direct backup should be considered week-to-week following the mid-game ruleout.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra caught 1-of-2 targets for six yards in the Eagles’ Week 2 win over the Chiefs
Non-A.J. Brown/DeVonta Smith/Saquon Barkley Eagles receivers combined for five targets and 15 yards, with Calcaterra the only other receiver who received multiple targets. Dallas Goedert was missed today. Neither Calcaterra nor the others look like players we’re trying to get into our lineups in Week 3 against the Rams.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra was held without a target in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory over the Chiefs.
A third-year sixth-rounder, Calcaterra was needed for 13 starts with always-injured Dallas Goedert missing two lengthy stretches. Calcaterra posted a 24/298/1 receiving slash after catching nine total balls across his first two years in the league. Good for Calcaterra, but his yards per route run was a gasping 0.98, placing him at 39th amongst seam stretchers in PFF’s database. Even if Goedert is cut loose ahead of 2025, Calcaterra doesn’t have the looks of a “secret” Dynasty league stash heading into the final year of his rookie deal.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra was not targeted in the Eagles’ Week 16 loss against the Commanders.
Calcaterra ran 27 routes on 40 Philadelphia drop backs but did not see a target as AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith dominated looks from Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett. Calcaterra, with four catches over the past three games, has proven not to be fantasy viable even with Dallas Goedert sidelined.
  • PHI Tight End #81
Grant Calcaterra caught 3-of-3 targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Philadelphia’s Week 14 win over the Panthers.
It was his first career NFL touchdown. Calcaterra has had a nice little season as a Dallas Goedert fill-in, but hasn’t really risen to more than TD-or-bust starter in fantasy football circles.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (knee) is headed to injured reserve, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Goedert was already ruled out for Week 14 against the Panthers, but now he’s set to miss the next four games. Rapoport says the plan is for the 29-year-old tight end to be back at full speed heading into the playoffs, which is a little vague given that Goedert technically could return for the Eagles final game of the regular season against the Giants. In either case, there’s no solace for fantasy managers as Goedert will certainly miss the final weeks of the fantasy season. Grant Calcaterra will see more snaps with Goedert out, but isn’t a recommended fantasy option.
