Patriots EDGE Harold Landry (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Landry collided with one of his teammates in the first quarter of the Pats’ Week 6 win over the Saints and stayed on the field for a moment. He eventually walked off under his own power and managed to return to the game after a short stint with the medical staff. The former Titan already has 4.5 sacks this year, putting him on pace for a career-high in sacks. Losing Landry would be a big blow to the Patriots’ defense, though it’s hard to imagine the downtrodden Titans taking advantage of his absence, given the way they have played so far.

Patriots signed EDGE Harold Landry, formerly of the Titans, to a three-year, $43.5 million contract.
Landry reunites with his old Titans head coach Mike Vrabel in New England. He was released in a cap-saving move by the Titans this offseason after tallying 19.5 total sacks over the last two seasons. Landry made the Pro Bowl in 2021, leading to a five-year, $87.5 million deal with the Titans. However, he tore his ACL ahead of the 2022 season, losing a year of production on the new contract. Still a productive pass rusher, Landry now slots right into Vrabel’s defensive line with the Patriots on a deal that has a max value of $48 million. For a Pats defensive outfit that was led in sacks by Deatrich Wise Jr. and Keion White, each of whom finished with five in 2024, this feels like a big addition.

    Titans released LB Harold Landry.
The move will create just shy of $11 million in cap space for Tennessee while leaving them with a $13.1 million dead cap charge. The Titans tried to find a trade partner for Landry but couldn’t land any takers because of his contract. The veteran defender had two seasons left on the five-year, $87.5 million contract he signed ahead of the 2022 season. Landry tore his ACL in 2022 but returned to form the following year, logging 10.5 sacks. His sack total took a slight hit last year, falling to nine. Landry will turn 29 years old before the upcoming season but is still an above-average starter at his position. Expect him to have plenty of suitors on the open market.
  • TEN Linebacker #58
Titans listed LB Harold Landry (abdomen) as questionable for Week 1 against the Saints.
Landry was upgraded to a full participant in Friday’s practice, which suggests he’s trending on the right side of playing in Week 1. The Titans EDGE rusher was lost to a torn ACL just days before the start of the 2022 season, but totaled a career-high 12 sacks the last time he was on a field. We’d be surprised if Landry didn’t suit up come Sunday.

Titans EDGE Harold Landry has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the 2022 season.
Landry suffered the injury in Wednesday’s practice. It’s a massive blow for a player coming off a career-high 12 sacks, and a team that signed Landry to a five-year, $87.5 million extension in March. The only good news is that Landry is still only 26 years old, and should recover in time for Week 1, 2023. It places huge pressure on fellow EDGE Bud Dupree, and leaves a Titans defense that is seemingly always operating off its back foot from a personnel perspective once against adjusting on the fly.

Titans re-signed OLB Harold Landry to a five-year, $87.5 million contract.
He gets $52.5 million guaranteed. Landry doesn’t turn 26 until later this summer and was curiously left un-tagged ahead of the deadline Tuesday afternoon, and now we know the reason. Landry is coming off a career-high 12.5 sacks last season, and the Titans are hoping it wasn’t a contract-year fluke. The former second-round pick is theoretically headed into his prime.

Speaking at the Pro Bowl, Harold Landry noted that he was “hopeful” that he’d be able to stay in Tennessee this offseason.
“It’s no secret that I love playing for the Titans, and my family loves living in Tennessee. So hopefully we can get a deal done,” Landry told reporters. Landry’s coming off a career-high 12 sack season and Titans GM Jon Robinson has noted that they’ll do “everything they can” to keep Landry. It sounds like the franchise tag might still be on the table for the Titans, but it looks like both sides want to stay together if possible.

Speaking Tuesday, Titans GM Jon Robinson said the Titans will “do everything we can” to keep LB Harold Landry.
Terry McCormick of Titan Insider reported recently that Tennessee could franchise tag Landry if the two parties can’t agree on a long-term deal. Robinson’s statement today implies the Titans want to keep Landry on the team for the long haul, but it seems like the tag could be a last resort to keep the star linebacker off the open market. Landry set a career-high with 12 sacks in 2021.

Terry McCormick of Titan Insider reports that the franchise tag is a possibility for LB Harold Landry if the teams can’t agree on a long-term deal.
Landry set a career-high with 12 sacks this season and, per Sports Info Solutions, had a career-high 62 pass pressures as well. He would undoubtedly be one of the best defenders on the market if he made it there, and will turn 26 in June. The Titans are in a somewhat precarious cap situation, but franchising Landry would make a lot of sense.

Titans OLB Harold Landry (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
With nine sacks in as many games, Landry is in the midst of a breakout campaign. He’s only a half of a sack away from his career-high over the course of a season. His status warrants monitoring throughout the week. Bud Dupree was also absent from practice due to a knee issue.
