Coach Bill Cowher has been extremely impressed with rookie TE Heath Miller thus far.
''The way he’s picked up the offense -- we’ve moved him around quite a bit -- and he really has not missed an assignment,’' Cowher said. ''I like the fact he’s picking things up very quickly.’' If Hines Ward’s holdout drags on into the season, Miller could find himself with a big role in the offense.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller caught three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 5 win over Tennessee.
He’s now averaging 38 yards a game on the year. Miller did well to make a diving grab for his eight-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but remains a poor week-to-week fantasy option with most of his responsibilities coming as a blocker. Consider Miller just a TE2 in Week 6 against Jacksonville. Miller now has two TDs in his last 14 regular season games.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller caught four passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 7 win over Arizona.
Miller got wide open in the right corner of the end zone for his 12-yard score in the first quarter. He was mostly quiet from that point on, spending the day blocking as usual. Miller will resume TE2 status in fantasy going forward.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller caught a season-high seven passes for 85 yards in Sunday’s win over the Patriots.
Six of Miller’s catches came on Pittsburgh’s first two drives, helping to free up wideouts Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown. Although he’s now hauled in at least four passes in each of his past three games, Miller is still little more than a bye week fill-in at tight end.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller was held to one catch for 18 yards in Pittsburgh’s Week 16 win over the Rams.
Miller has now caught two or fewer passes in four of his past five games. He’s off the radar as a TE2 in fantasy leagues that conclude in Week 17.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller caught two passes for 23 yards in Sunday’s game against the Browns.
Miller is primarily used as a blocking tight end but is an asset in the red-zone and a reliable security blanket for Ben Roethlisberger. His receiving numbers improved this season, though he’s no longer capable of his pre-2010 form.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller caught three passes for 31 yards against the Bengals in Week 10.
A mixed performance at best. Miller absorbed a huge hit from Reggie Nelson at the 2-yard line to set up Rashard Mendenhall’s first score. He also twice bobbled a pass that ended up being intercepted and nullified a Jerricho Cotchery touchdown with a penalty. Miller is on pace for 61 receptions and 744 yards heading into the Week 11 bye.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller was held to just two catches for 12 yards against the Bengals in Week 13.
Miller saw just three targets on a day when Ben Roethlisberger attempted only 23 passes. After a mid-season hot streak, he hasn’t topped 35 yards for a second straight week. Miller is on pace for a 55/663/3 line heading into Week 14 against the Browns.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller was held to one catch for 20 yards in Sunday’s win over the Chiefs.
Tonight was Miller’s first one-catch performance since Week 2, and just the second time all season he’s been held to fewer than three receptions. It wasn’t just Miller who had an off night, though, as the entire Steelers’ passing game was out-of-sync against an inspired Chiefs defense. Miller will be a TE2 in Week 13 against a Bengals team he made three catches for 31 yards against in Week 10.
  • PIT Tight End #83
Heath Miller had five receptions for 73 yards in the Steelers’ Week 9 loss to the Ravens.
The Ravens usually force Miller to stay on the line and block, but tonight he was able to post his fourth straight game with four or more receptions. His recent consistency makes him a desirable TE2, particularly in PPR formats. He’s on pace to have 62 catches on the year.
