    Cowboys re-signed S Israel Mukuamu to a one-year contract.
Mukuamu has flashed at times as a backup coverage defender though he tends to play inconsistently. The 25-year-old player generally tackles well, having recorded just two total missed tackles in his career. Mukuamu also effectively contributes on special teams.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #1
Jalen Tolbert is a healthy scratch for the Cowboys in Week 1 against the Buccaneers.
Well, that certainly isn’t ideal. Tolbert is a candidate to be dropped in re-draft leagues. Also inactive are WR Michael Gallup (ACL), LB Jabril Cox, S Israel Mukuamu, CB Nahshon Wright, S Markquese Bell, and DL John Ridgeway.

  • FA Safety #24
Cowboys selected South Carolina DB Israel Mukuamu with the No. 227 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Mukuamu (6'4/212) continues Dallas’ run of prioritizing size and length on defense as his 34-inch arms helped facilitate his physical play style across from Jaycee Horn. As his build suggests, Mukuamu is a bully in all phases of the game whether it be at line of scrimmage, down the field, at the catch point, or in the run game — if it is a battle of muscle, Mukuamu is not losing. A tick slow keeping up down the field, Mukuamu still earned nine pass deflections and six interceptions in his final two years of play, and all with a groin issue hampering him for about half the 2020 season. A healthy Mukuamu could carve out a role along the lines of Brandon Browner.
