Falcons released K John Parker Romo.
Parker Romo sealed his fate when he missed a fourth quarter extra point last week against the Patriots. He had been shaky for a while, missing three of his 14 field goal tries since replacing Younghoe Koo as Atlanta’s kicker in September. Parker Romo, a veteran journeyman, could catch on with another kicker-needy team in the coming weeks. The Falcons are set to try Zane Gonzalez as their new kicker starting in Week 10 against the Colts.
  • FA Kicker #6
    Falcons released K Younghoe Koo.
Koo’s time with the Falcons comes to a close in his seventh season with the team. His missed 44-yard field goal against the Buccaneers in Week 1 proved costly. The Falcons will now roll with K Parker Romo in his stead. Koo could get a shot elsewhere in the NFL. At 31 years old, he likely still has enough life left in his kicking leg to land a spot on a practice squad.
  • ATL Kicker #6
Falcons K Younghoe Koo will not travel with the Falcons for their Week 2 game against the Vikings.
The team has made a change at kicker following Koo’s missed 44-yard field goal attempt in the closing stages of their loss to the Buccaneers. Falcons signed Parker Romo earlier in the week, who will kick for the team against the Vikings Sunday. We could see Koo released by the Falcons in the coming week.
  • ATL Kicker #37
Falcons signed K John Parker Romo, formerly of the Patriots.
Parker Romo, who lost the Week 1 starting competition in New England this summer, was inked to the Atlanta practice squad two days after Younghoe Koo whiffed on a game-tying fourth quarter kick. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said Koo would face competition ahead of the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Vikings. Koo, who made two of his three attempts against the Bucs in Week 1, converted a dismal 73 percent of his field goal tries in 2024. He reportedly struggled in training camp and could be out of a job with a rough Week 2 outing. Parker Romo made 11 of his 12 field goal tries last season with the Vikings.
  • CBS’ Matt Zenitz reports Andres Borregales has won the Patriots kicker competition.
The team released K Parker Romo. Borregales was New England’s fifth-round pick this year. He’ll likely be a middle-of-the-road kicker this year for New England’s middle-of-the-road offense.
  • Patriots selected Miami K Andres Borregales with the No. 182 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Borregales (5’11/199) was Miami’s kicker for four years. He was nearly automatic on PATs, only missing one of his 184 career tries. Borregales was a solid kicker for the first three years of his career, hanging out between an 81 and 85 percent success rate on his field goals. He then set career marks across the board in 2024, connecting on 18-of-19 field goals with a long of 56 yards. Borregales doesn’t have elite power, but his consistent approach leads to remarkable accuracy. He will likely compete with John Parker Romo for Week 1 kicking duties in New England.
  • NE Kicker (FG) #15
Patriots signed K John Parker Romo, formerly of the Vikings.
Parker Romo will be on the team’s practice squad until the Pats activate him to the game day roster. Parker Romo made 11 of his 12 field goal attempts in four games with the Vikings this season before the team released him in Week 14, with Will Reichard returning from IR. Parker Romo could be New England’s starter soon rather than later. Joey Slye has missed three field goals over the team’s past two games and has converted a lowly 78 percent of his attempts in 2024.
  • MIN Kicker #16
Vikings placed K Will Reichard (quad) on injured reserve.
He’ll miss at least four games. The Vikings are signing John Parker Romo to replace Reichard as the kicker for the near-term. Reichard missed two kicks — his only two misses of the season — while trying to play through the quad injury on Sunday night. It was obvious that he was in pain on each backswing.
  • MIN Kicker (FG) #15
Vikings signed K John Parker Romo, formerly of the UFL’s San Antonio Brahams, to a contract.
The signing is potentially significant because the team has not re-signed K Greg Joseph, who last year made 24 of his 30 field goal attempts and 36 of 28 extra points tries. Parker Romo had a short stint with the Lions last spring after kicking for the Brahmas. He made 17 of 19 field goals for San Antonio.
  • FA Kicker #39
Lions signed K John Parker Romo, formerly of the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL.
Detroit hosted the XFL standout to rookie camp via veteran invite, a tryout that ultimately led to his signing. John Parker Romo will likely compete with veteran journeyman Michael Badgley in camp for the right to kick for the Lions in 2023. Romo went 17-of-19 in kick attempts in the XFL this season.
