Cuevas

Cuevas scored his first touchdown on the Ravens’ opening drive when he hauled in a two-yard pass from Tyler Huntley to give his team the early lead. On the second drive of the game, Cuevas would pop up for a 29-yard reception that helped position the Ravens for an eventual field goal, as the rookie tight end was instrumental on both scoring drives. Cuevas only ran 14 routes in this one compared to the 25 Mark Andrews ran, but he was easily the more reliable tight end on the field for Baltimore. This is likely a one-off performance for the rookie fifth-rounder, so we don’t advise chasing these points heading into Week 7 against the Bengals.

The Ravens signed fifth-round TE Josh Cuevas as well. Hibner’s deal is worth $5 million, while Cuevas’ is worth $4.6 million. Hibner totaled 55 catches, 804 yards and eight touchdowns over his last two seasons at SMU. The two rookie tight ends will compete with veteran TE Durham Smythe for the No. 2 tight end role.

Cuevas (6’3/245) worked his way up the college football ladder, spending two seasons at FCS Cal Poly before a one-year layover in Washington. He arrived at Alabama in 2024 and proceeded to catch 53 passes in 25 games. Good, if not great, production for a size ‘tweener. A potential future H-back or fullback, Cuevas is lauded for his blocking work. Throwing haymakers out in front of the running back could end up Cuevas’ NFL calling, though NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has praised his receiving upside, saying he “pairs burst/route knowledge to compete against man coverage over the first two levels and is a reliable target in traffic.” Cuevas is a Day 3 talent with some long-term upside.
