49ers DL Keion White was shot in the ankle early Monday morning in downtown San Francisco.
The team reported late Monday evening that White was in surgery after sustaining a bullet wound to his ankle earlier in the day. No amplifying information regarding the incident was provided initially, although more is sure to come out in the coming days. At least for now, it appears as if the grotesque injury to the veteran defensive lineman is not career, or life, threatening.

49ers LB Dee Winters (ankle) is questionable for San Francisco’s Wild Card game against the Eagles.
Winters did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was not seen by media on Friday. The 49ers will give him every hour he can to be healthy as he’s the main incumbent with a chance to play this week. If not, the 49ers will have to turn to Eric Kendricks, Garret Wallow, and possibly new signing Kyzir White in the middle against the Eagles. CB Renardo Green (foot) and DE Keion White (groin/hamstring) are also questionable for the 49ers.

Former Ole Dominion redshirt junior DE Keion White is transferring to Georgia Tech.
After sitting out the entire 2020 season, White has become a bit of a forgotten name. White was one of the best Group of Five defenders last season, though, and is primed to be a nice get for the Yellow Jackets. At 6-foot-4 and 267-pounds, White has all the size and length to be a tough strong side defensive end. He is a monster run defender, picking up 19 tackles for loss in his lone year of extended play as a redshirt sophomore in 2019. It’s been a long two months for White in the portal, but he’s finally found himself a good program that looks to be on the rise.

Old Dominion redshirt junior DE Keion White has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
White is a quietly big name in the transfer market now. Though he only earned 3.5 sacks last season, he racked up a whopping 19 tackles for loss. Only nine players in the entire country had more. At 6-foot-4 and 267-pounds, he is built perfectly to be a strong side end and could contribute for a number of Power Five teams right now. Whether or not White will have to sit upon transferring this year is unclear, but if nothing else, he will be a good addition for a team in 2021.

Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash passes along that Old Dominion redshirt junior DE Keion White “finished the 2019 season as the 11th-most valuable edge rusher.”
Treash notes that White wrapped the fall campaign with a 19.4% pass-rush win rate and a 16.1% pressure rate, both top-20 marks at the position. By traditional metrics, the 6-foot-4, 267-pounder logged 62 tackles (19.0 for loss), 3.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble across 12 games played. This outstanding production is made all the more impressive by the fact that White was playing on offense -- tight end, specifically -- back in 2018. Treash ranks White as the No. 6 edge rusher for the 2020 CFB season.

Old Dominion redshirt sophomore DE Keion White racked up seven QB pressures against FIU, according to Pro Football Focus.
White (6'4/267) never managed to actually bring down FIU’s QB, but he sure made his day stressful. On just 27 pass-rush reps, White was able to register a pressure seven times and forced FIU’s QB into more uncomfortable situations than he would have liked. White even registered a pass defense in his commanding performance. Unfortunately, the Monarchs could not capitalize on his efforts and fell to 1-8 with the loss to FIU.
