Free agent RB Kerryon Johnson worked out for the Jaguars Wednesday.
Carlos Hyde missed Wednesday’s practice because of a concussion and could be out for the Jaguars’ Week 15 game against the. If he does, the Jags would be down to just Dare Ogunbowale behind James Robinson on the active roster. If signed, Johnson would likely play Hyde’s role as the direct backup to Robinson.

Free agent RB Kerryon Johnson worked out for the Packers Tuesday.
With Aaron Jones sidelined 1-to-2 weeks and third-stringer Kylin Hill out for the season, the Packers are in dire need of running back depth behind A.J. Dillon. Johnson has bounced around the league over the past couple of seasons and could immediately join Patrick Taylor as a complementary piece to Dillon. Johnson still wouldn’t be fantasy-relevant if he signs with the Packers – he hasn’t recorded an NFL touch since Week 16 of 2020 – and it wouldn’t have a noticeable impact on Dillon’s outlook either.

NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports the Saints hosted three free agent running backs on Tuesday.
The team brought in free agents Kerryon Johnson, Rodney Smith and Josh Adams after Alvin Kamara went to the medical tent for a brief period in Sunday’s loss to Atlanta. Underhill adds that he’s heard “whispers” Kamara “might have gotten a little banged up” in that game, too. Mark Ingram would surge as a low-end RB1 against the Titans no matter who is signed behind him if Kamara is in fact ruled out for Week 10.

    49ers waived RB Kerryon Johnson.
Johnson was available on the 53-man roster for two games but failed to record a single snap while Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) was sidelined. Jordan Matthews was signed to the practice squad in his place.

49ers elevated RB Kerryon Johnson to their active roster.
Trey Sermon cleared the concussion protocol and will start for the 49ers Sunday. Elijah Mitchell is doubtful for the game, however. That likely leaves special teamer Trenton Cannon and the newly signed Jaques Patrick as the only other active running backs on roster outside of Sermon and Johnson. Johnson doesn’t have reliable fantasy value this week. But it’s possible that Johnson plays meaningful snaps on Sunday night against the Packers, which would be bad news for fantasy managers relying on Trey Sermon.

49ers signed RB Kerryon Johnson to the practice squad.
The Eagles waived Johnson from injured reserve with an injury settlement at the end of August after he was unable to beat out Kenneth Gainwell or Boston Scott as depth. He’s merely an insurance signing after Raheem Mostert (knee surgery) was announced out for the year. Johnson will likely stay on the practice squad unless another injury occurs to San Francisco’s backfield.

Free agent RB Kerryon Johnson worked out for the Raiders on Tuesday.
The Eagles waived Johnson from injured reserve with an injury settlement at the end of August. He signed with them in the offseason but was unable to get past Boston Scott or Kenneth Gainwell on the depth chart. The Raiders don’t have any notable backs behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake on their roster but that duo would still prevent Johnson from seeing the field much if he signs with Las Vegas.

Eagles waived RB Kerryon Johnson from IR, he is now free to sign with another team.
Johnson was waiver/injured by the Eagles on August 17. The Eagles have now waived him from IR, with an injury settlement. This makes Johnson eligible sign with another NFL team. Johnson is only 24 but has struggled to stay healthy. He still offers high end pass blocking ability, even if he ultimately cannot regain his early career burst. Johnson is likely to land on another roster at some point in 2021.

    Eagles waived/injured RB Kerryon Johnson.
Johnson will probably clear waivers and revert to injured reserve. He will then likely be released with an injury settlement once he gets healthy. Waived by the Lions earlier this summer, Johnson arrived in Philly via waivers. With pass-catching rookie Kenneth Gainwell joining Boston Scott and Jordan Howard behind Miles Sanders, there was not going to be a spot for Johnson unless someone got hurt, and the Eagles have thus far had good health in their 2021 backfield. Johnson is still only 24 and should feature on the workout circuit for some time.

NJ.com’s Chris Franklin reports Eagles RB Kerryon Johnson has the “inside edge” on Jordan Howard as the backs battle for a roster spot.
Philadelphia beat writers expect the Eagles to keep Johnson or Howard, but not both. Johnson’s pass-catching ability has so far made him a superior option to Howard, who has 32 receptions over the past three seasons. “There were concerns about Johnson’s knee coming into training camp, but it looks like it is holding up so far,” Franklin said. “Johnson has caught the ball cleanly when the ball was thrown his way, and he is also taking a leadership role mentoring some of the younger running backs.” Johnson would only become fantasy viable if Miles Sanders or Boston Scott missed time in 2021.
