Faulk left the team to be with his ailing mother, but also has a knee injury. He was seen limping after his first practice of the regular season. New England could really use Faulk’s help on passing downs.

Funeral services will be Monday in Lafayette, La and more than likely Faulk will return in the middle of the week.

Until now, the injury was uncertain. He’s very unlikely to play this week, which hurts the New England passing game a lot. Patrick Pass, and possibly rookie Cedric Cobbs, could pick up snaps in his place. Corey Dillon could get more third-down snaps.

The Patriots third down back is starting to look doubtful for Sunday.

He looks very unlikely to play versus the Colts. Corey Dillon and Patrick Pass will play more on third downs.

We’d be surprised if he wasn’t listed as questionable this week.

In other words, Faulk will stay for below-market value. Considering the team has no running backs, the Patriots should be interested in bringing Faulk back as a third-down/receiving running back. If their interest in Charlie Garner is sincere, they have no use for Faulk.

Faulk has missed a lot of practice time this season. He has negligle fantasy value with Corey Dillon in the fold.

Faulk will take away fantasy value from Laurence Maroney and Corey Dillon by playing most third downs. The team may also line him up in the slot at times becaus of their receiver shortage.

“As a competitor and a player I wouldn’t mind that,” Faulk said. ``I just have to be ready for whatever.”
