Kyle Monangai rushed 13 times for 36 yards in the Bears’ Divisional round loss to the Rams, adding four receptions for 36 additional yards.
Monangai’s strong rookie season officially comes to an end. The seventh-rounder didn’t waste any time working his way into the Bears’ running back rotation last offseason, and popped up to rush for 169-783-5 as a rookie. Monangai’s 18 receptions for 164 yards could hint at increased usage in the passing game next season, and he also saw four or more targets in three of his final five games this season — including Sunday’s playoff game. While it seems unlikely he’ll be usurping D’Andre Swift on the running back depth chart next season, Monangai is clearly playing the “David Montgomery role” in Ben Johnson’s offense and thrived in that role in his rookie campaign. It’s too early to say he’ll have any more than RB3 value in fantasy leagues in 2026, but Monangai should have a real role with the Bears in 2026 and could grow it further if he outplays Swift.

D’Andre Swift rushed 13 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in the Bears’ Wild Card Round victory oer the Packers while adding two receptions for 32 yards.
Swift scored a touchdown late in the contest, and also had a terrific catch where he reversed direction on a swing-out that set up another. The 26-year-old received 15 touches while Kyle Monangai turned eight carries into 27 yards with one 22-yard reception. Swift will remain the RB1 — with Monangai involved — in the Divisional Round against the Rams or Eagles.

D’Andre Swift rushed 10 times for 40 yards in the Bears’ Week 18 loss to the Lions, adding eight yards on one reception.
The Bears gained only four first downs in the first half and were held off the scoreboard until early in the fourth quarter, a game environment that limited the veteran back to only 11 touches in the loss. More late-game heroics from quarterback Caleb Williams eventually tied the game at 16 before Goff and the Lions stole the win on a last minute field goal as time expired. The bigger picture for Swift is that he continued to operate as the primary back in what was once a timeshare situation with Kyle Monangai, the latter of whom managed only 14 yards on six carries and 15 yards on his lone reception. Swift and the Bears now prepare to host the Packers in the Wildcard Round after the Eagles also lost in Week 18.

Kyle Monangai rushed eight times for 38 yards in the Bears’ Week 17 loss to the 49ers, adding nine yards on three receptions.
Monangai was handily out-gained by backfield mate D’Andre Swift, the latter of whom also scored twice on the ground in the loss. The fact the electric rookie wasn’t able to get more involved in the offensive game plan in a game where both offenses combined for over 940 yards is a bit disappointing for fantasy managers counting on his production in Championship week, although dynasty managers can rest easy knowing he has significantly outperformed expectations entering the season.

Kyle Monangai rushed nine times for 50 yards in the Bears’ Week 16 win over the Packers, adding three receptions for 43 additional yards.
Monangai led the Bears’ backfield in total yards this weekend, with a large portion of those coming on a 34-yard pass early in the third quarter. Monangai continues to split backfield work with D’Andre Swift, and appeared on just 10 fewer snaps than Swift. Monangai is a touchdown-dependent option who hasn’t scored since Week 13. Fantasy managers shouldn’t view him as anything more than low-end RB2 in Week 17 against the 49ers.

D’Andre Swift (groin) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Swift was not on the injury report yesterday. The veteran runner has been dealing with the groin issue for a while. He appeared to be over it in recent weeks, but a mid-week addition now puts him at risk of missing Saturday’s game. Kyle Monangai would be in line for a massive workload and an RB1 ranking if Swift cannot suit up.

Kyle Monangai rushed 11 times for 33 yards in the Bears’ Week 15 win over the Browns.
Monangai had led the Bears in rushes in three consecutive games, but the 23-year-old rookie running back took a backseat to D’Andre Swift in Week 15 against the Browns. He had 11 carries and just 33 yards while being held without a catch on two targets. Monangai managers had to watch while Swift exploded for 98 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll be more of an RB3 in a tough matchup against the Packers in Week 16.

Kyle Monangai rushed 14 times for 57 yards in the Bears’ Week 14 loss to the Packers.
Monangai led the Bears in carries but was out-touched by D’Andre Swift 16-15. Swift caught three balls while operating as the team’s top option on passing downs. The rookie also added two points to his fantasy bottom line by punching in a two-point conversion in the second half. Monangai has now out-carried Swift in three straight and the Bears are running the ball enough to keep both backs involved. As home favorites over the Browns in Week 15, the Bears should be able to establish their run-first approach the next time we see them. Monangai will sit on the RB2/3 border.

Bears RB Kyle Monangai (ankle) was removed from the injury report and will play in Week 14 against the Packers.
Monangai increased his practice participation on Thursday and Friday after sitting out on Wednesday. The productive rookie is ready to roll. Bears RB D’Andre Swift will, of course, handle a significant workload, but Monangai is more than capable of returning RB2/3 value alongside him. Both players handled 19-plus touches in Week 13 against the Eagles.

Bears RB Kyle Monangai (ankle) was limited on Thursday.
Monangai is coming off a Week 13 showing in which he entered the game listed with a knee injury before rushing 22 times for 130 yards and one touchdown. Seeing the Bears ease him into practice with a new ankle injury is unsurprising. We expect Monangai to play in Week 14, ideally with a full practice session on Friday.
