49ers hired former NFL WR Leonard Hankerson as offensive Quality Control coach.
Hankerson was initially drafted by Mike Shanahan in Washington in 2011 and played under Kyle Shanahan, OC at the time, until the latter was hired for the same role in Cleveland in 2014. Hankerson, 32, was previously an assistant wide receivers coach at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Monday that rookie Leonard Hankerson is behind fellow rookie Niles Paul and Donte’ Stallworth on the Redskins’ depth chart.
Paul was drafted behind Hankerson, and Stallworth was inactive for Week 1. Also a healthy scratch, Hankerson “has a ways to go,” Shanahan said. At this point, we don’t anticipate any rookie-year impact from the third-round pick.

Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson is active for Sunday’s game against the Panthers.
It’s the first time Hankerson has been “up” all season. He takes the place of Donte’ Stallworth, who is sidelined by a hamstring injury. But with Anthony Armstrong (hamstring) also active, Hankerson figures to have a meager role. Other Redskins’ inactives: TE Chris Cooley, T Trent Williams, DL Darrion Scott, LB Markus White, CB Byron Westbrook and S Oshiomogho Atogwe.

Leonard Hankerson didn’t have surgery until roughly three months after he tore the labrum in his right hip last November.
Hankerson suffered the injury on November 13. He didn’t have surgery until February 21. Coach Mike Shanahan explained that doctors waited to operate because of how they “evaluated his rehabilitation progress,” as opposed to a setback. “He should be ready to go, my understanding is, by June 1,” Shanahan assured. Hankerson is expected to compete to start with Josh Morgan.

The Redskins plan on starting WR Leonard Hankerson opposite of Pierre Garcon.
Garcon will play split end, which would slide Hankerson in at flanker. The 2011 third-round pick would be getting the nod over Josh Morgan, who would be shuffled into a reserve role that could result in some time in the slot. Hankerson, of course, is still recovering from a hip injury, so this is all contingent on him getting back to full health. His upside will make him worth consideration late in your fantasy draft this fall.

Leonard Hankerson (hip surgery) reiterated Monday that his recovery is on schedule and he’ll be ready for the start of training camp.
Hankerson won’t do much OTA work, but he’ll be on the field to compete with Josh Morgan in late July. “I’m feeling good, getting better every day,” said Hankerson, who is no longer walking with a limp after February 21 surgery on his right hip. “Not quite there yet, but hopefully I will be in a couple of weeks.”

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said that Josh Morgan and Leonard Hankerson can play in the slot, but it’s highly unlikely that Pierre Garcon will.
Garcon was exclusively an outside receiver with the Colts and figures to stick there. Hankerson mostly played outside last year, but only appeared in four games. Although he’s mostly worked from the outside, Morgan has the most experience of the three in the slot, handling 40 percent of his snaps there in 2009. Expect Garcon to start at split end with Hankerson at flanker. Morgan and Santana Moss will compete for primary slot duties.

Leonard Hankerson underwent hip surgery on Tuesday, February 21.
Hankerson suffered a torn labrum in his right hip on November 13. The reason for his delayed surgery is unclear, and makes us wonder if Hankerson had two surgeries. Either way, he expects to be 100 percent recovered by training camp.

Redskins agreed to terms with WR Josh Morgan on a five-year, $12 million contract.
The five years are misleading, apparently in an attempt to extend the proration of the signing bonus. The deal will void after two years and contains a more than respectable $7.5 million in guarantees. Morgan was viewed around the league as a solid playmaker under-utilized by the 49ers. He’ll join Pierre Garcon in a revamped Redskins receiving corps. Santana Moss and Jabar Gaffney are on notice while Leonard Hankerson is blocked.

Leonard Hankerson (hip surgery) is targeting the Redskins’ June 11 mandatory minicamp to resume practicing.
He’ll certainly be ready by training camp. Hankerson racked up 12 catches for 140 yards in two starts last year, but tore the labrum in his right hip during the second. He is shaping up as a potential value pick in 2012 fantasy drafts.
