49ers waived WR Maurice Price, TE Joe Jon Finley, OLB Jay Moore, OT Joe Toledo, ILB Mark Washington, and LB Justin Roland.
Moore had the best shot to make the team in this group, but he’s shown little pass-rush ability and battled injuries since being drafted in the 2007 fourth round. Finley, Roland, and Toledo could go on the practice squad.

Rookie Will Franklin caught two passes for 31 yards as the Chiefs won their preseason opener over Chicago 24-20 Thursday night.
However, Franklin played behind Devard Darling and fell down coming out of a break, costing him a chance at a long gain. Franklin’s main competition for the third receiver job, Maurice Price, caught two passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Likely fourth wideout Jeff Webb had two grabs for 29.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Chiefs rookie Will Franklin underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and will miss at least two weeks.
He probably won’t play at New England in Week 1, but could return for the Chiefs’ Week 2 game versus Oakland. This kills any chance Franklin had of passing Devard Darling to start. Maurice Price and Jeff Webb are candidates to fill in Kansas City’s third receiver in the meantime.
  • TB Wide Receiver
    Chiefs waived WR Maurice Price.
Kansas City is going with Marques Hagans over him. That’s either a serious knock on Price’s talent or yet another misguided Chiefs personnel decision.
  • LV Wide Receiver
Chiefs writer Jason Whitlock calls rookie Will Franklin the team’s “No. 3/slot receiver.”
Franklin has clearly pulled ahead of Maurice Price and Jeff Webb. Devard Darling is still in Franklin’s way to start. Since the Chiefs’ offense is likely to be very bad, they could make numerous in-season lineup changes. Expect Franklin to see some starts this year.
  • TB Wide Receiver
Second-year wideout Maurice Price has seen action with the first-team offense during Chiefs OTAs.
A deep sleeper here. It was rather shocking that Price went undrafted in 2007 after he led the nation in receptions as a junior in the Big South. Price has reportedly made “several big catches” in two-minute drills. Considering K.C.'s lack of good options, Price can’t be ruled out for a major role.
  • LV Wide Receiver
As the Chiefs opened training camp, rookie Will Franklin was first off the bench when the team practiced three-receiver sets.
It appears he’s moved past Jeff Webb and Maurice Price, with only Devard Darling left in Franklin’s way to start. Darling and Franklin have both impressed so far, but Franklin’s physical attributes compare favorably to Darling’s and the Chiefs love rookies, so he could get a real chance to start.
  • TB Wide Receiver
The Chiefs downgraded WR Maurice Price (thigh), WR Will Franklin (knee), and LB Napoleon Harris (knee) to out for Week 1.
The Chiefs now only have three healthy wideouts, which gives Herm Edwards an excuse to not call a forward pass Sunday. Jeff Webb will be the team’s third receiver. Harris had already lost his job and may just be taking up roster space.

  • KC Wide Receiver
Jeff Webb will be the Chiefs’ third receiver in Week 1 against the Patriots.
It’d usually be Will Franklin, but he’s out with a bad knee and Maurice Price is also hurt. Webb won’t have plays called for him, so expect Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez to be peppered with targets if K.C. gets down early.
