As has been the rotation in camp, Steelers fifth-round QB Omar Jacobs worked behind Shane Boyd in the team’s preseason opener.
While Boyd’s play was marginal, Jacobs did well to rebound from a first-series three-and-out with a second-possession scoring drive capped by a jump-ball TD to Isaac Smolko. Boyd and Jacobs are likely battling for a roster spot.
  • KC Quarterback
Steelers rookie QB Omar Jacobs is reportedly in danger of being cut.
The fifth-rounder with the awkward throwing motion is having a hard time with Pittsburgh’s playbook while running behind NFLE vet Shane Boyd.
  • KC Quarterback
As the Steelers’ third quarterback, fifth-round rookie Omar Jacobs fumbled on one of his two plays from scrimmage Friday night.
Jacobs tried to scramble around aimlessly before having the ball knocked out of his hands while still standing. The Steelers are considering going with just two quarterbacks this season.
  • KC Quarterback
Omar Jacobs is currently playing for the Florence Phantoms of the American Indoor Football Association.
It’s basically a minor league AFL. Leading up to the 2006 draft, Jacobs was considered a first-round prospect by some. He was taken in the fifth round by the Steelers and has never been on an active game-day roster.
  • KC Quarterback
Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs will work out for the Dolphins Monday.
Miami might look for a young player to develop behind Daunte Culpepper in the upcoming draft. It might be a luxury they can’t afford, however, with only 4 overall picks.
  • KC Quarterback
Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs declared for the NFL Draft.
It’s somewhat of a surprise. Jacobs is mobile and another fine MAC quarterback, but probably needed another year of seasoning. He’s a bit of a project, but talented enough to be a mid-round pick in a Draft short on quarterback talent.
  • KC Quarterback
NFL scouts can’t agree on where Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs will go in the first draft.
He could go anywhere from the second round to the middle of the second day. After a dominating sophomore season, the athletic player was average as a junior. We think he’s the fifth best quarterback in this draft.
  • KC Quarterback
Steelers agreed to terms with fifth-round QB Omar Jacobs on a three-year contract.
Jacobs’ awkward throwing motion turned scouts off but Steelers QBs coach Mark Whipple says he won’t tinker with it. Jacobs will begin behind Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch. All three are former Mid-American Conference quarterbacks.
  • KC Quarterback
    Steelers released QB Omar Jacobs.
The fifth-rounder finally played marginally in the final preseason game, but it wasn’t enough. He’ll probably be claimed before next week.
  • KC Quarterback
Eagles signed Omar Jacobs to their practice squad.
The Bowling Green product didn’t make it out of Steelers training camp after being drafted in the fifth round. He’ll act as Philadelphia’s third quarterback, but probably won’t make the active roster barring injury.
