The Nashville Tennessean suggests that WR Paul Williams is a long shot to make the team this season.
Williams was part of final cuts last season and then spent the rest of the year on the practice squad. The Titans keep holding out hope that the light will come on for the 2007 third-rounder, but they are probably better off just moving on at this point.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
The Titans’ coaching staff has reportedly been impressed by rookie wide receiver Paul Williams at early workouts.
Due to his history, we worry Williams could be a dud if he doesn’t see the field consistently right off the bat, but he’ll get that opportunity in Tennessee. Williams has an outside chance to start while David Givens rehabs.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
The Nashville City Paper says Tians rookie wide receivers Paul Williams and Joel Filani “appear to be projects.”
Both players have the opportunity for significant roles this year on a thin roster, but appear currently to be slated for the end of the depth chart.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Titans agreed to terms with third-round WR Paul Williams.
Williams came from Fresno State with commitment question marks and doesn’t appear likely to play a significant role with the Titans as a rookie. He has a ton of talent but is not a strong bet to do much in the league.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Titans rookie WR Paul Williams, who hasn’t been active yet this season, has reportedly begun to make strides in practice.
“You’re starting to see some of the attributes he has,” GM Mike Reinfeldt said. “People do it at different speeds and you can see he has gotten better over the last several weeks.” The super gifted but raw fourth-round pick still isn’t likely to make a notable impact in his rookie season.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Paul Williams is listed behind sixth-round WR Dominique Edison on the Titans’ most recent depth chart.
Edison is a small-school project learning a complex offense for the first time. The Titans appear ready to cut bait on Williams, a 2007 third-round pick who just hasn’t progressed.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Titans WR Paul Williams has continued to look inconsistent on the practice field this spring.
Williams, the 80th overall pick in 2007, has been inactive for 27 of his 32 games as a Titan. It will be a shock if he’s on the 53-man roster this season.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Paul Williams will miss the remainder of Titans minicamps after suffering groin and ankle injuries on the practice field Tuesday.
Williams, a third-year wideout, was already facing long odds to secure a roster spot after falling behind sixth-round pick Dominique Edison on the depth chart. The injuries don’t sound serious, but they only hurt his cause.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
    Titans released WR Paul Williams.
Williams was a former third-round pick of the Titans back in 2007. He was always a longshot to make the roster as he came from a small school and never progressed like the Titans wanted.
  • HOU Wide Receiver
Titans signed WR Paul Williams, OG Ryan Durand, FB Rodney Ferguson, DT Mitch King, WR Phillip Morris, S Nick Schommer, and OL Fernando Velasco to their practice squad.
Williams was the Titans’ third-round pick in 2007, but has never produced on the field. King is a try-hard defensive tackle from Iowa. Schommer and Durand were draft picks this year. Ferguson is Ahmard Hall’s backup for now.
