Colts worked out free agent LB Duke Riley on Friday.
Riley briefly signed on with the Commanders this summer but his time with them was short-lived. The Colts also worked out CB Shemar Bartholomew, LB Milo Eifler, LB David Long, LB Raekwon McMillan and LB Ty Summers.
  • NYG Linebacker #47
Giants re-signed LB Ty Summers to a one-year contract.
Summers is entering his seventh season as a pro and has contributed primarily on special teams. He totaled the second-most tackles (29) and defensive snaps (113) of his career and will likely continue in his special teams role next season.
  • JAC Safety #38
Jaguars signed S Terrell Edmunds, formerly of the Titans.
Edmunds was traded from the Eagles to the Titans last season and totaled 48 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception while splitting time with the two teams. The former first-round pick was let go by the Steelers after his rookie contract expired at the end of the 2022 season and is now set to play for his third team in two years. He’ll have a chance to provide added depth to the Jaguars’ secondary but is unlikely to be viewed as a starter at this point. In addition to Edmunds, they also signed cornerback Tre Flowers and linebacker Ty Summers.
  • CHI Linebacker #43
    Jaguars waived LB Ty Summers.
Claimed off waivers after getting released from the Packers at final cuts, Summers lasted three days on Jacksonville’s active roster. The 26-year-old special teamer may have to settle for a role on the practice squad ahead of Week 1.

  • CHI Linebacker #43
Jaguars claimed LB Ty Summers off waivers from the Packers.
Summers had been a strong special teams contributor for the Packers since being drafted in the seventh round of the 2019 draft. He’ll remain on the final year of his rookie deal with the Jaguars. He should provide help on special teams while operating as a reserve linebacker.

  • CHI Linebacker #43
    Packers waived LB Ty Summers.
Summers, a top special teamer, played over 75% of snaps on special teams for the Packers the last two seasons. The 26-year-old was owed a $965K base salary in the final year of his rookie deal and could draw interest on waivers.

  • CHI Linebacker #43
Packers selected TCU LB Ty Summers with the No. 226 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Summers is one of the most athletic linebackers in this class with a profile in the 88th percentile. At 6-foot-1 and 241 pounds, Summers was a four year starter and played off the ball in the Horned Frogs’ nickel defense. Despite that athleticism, Summers can look a bit hesitant too often, allowing blockers to get in positive position on him.

Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline projects TCU LB Ty Summers to be drafted in Round 4.
Summers (6'1/241) had a “terrific” pro day and stood on his 4.51-second 40-yard dash time from the NFL Scouting Combine. Pauline, who calls Summers a potential steal, reports that the linebacker met with the Vikings, Titans, Dolphins, Seahawks, and Saints after his workout ended. The primary reason why Summers is expected to be a Day 3 selection is his struggles in pass defense, which has become arguably the most important skill for NFL linebackers.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein notes that TCU LB Ty Summers comes off the field during passing downs.
Arguably the most important trait for a linebacker is his ability to play on passing downs, so this is notable. Summers (6'1/241) tested well at the NFL Scouting Combine -- he ran 4.51 with a 36-inch vertical jump -- but Zierlein questions his lateral movement when he’s on the field. Summers is just a “late-round target” and potential core special-teamer, according to the analyst.
