Chiefs placed Tyquan Thornton (concussion) on injured reserve.
Thornton was a long-shot to make the Chiefs’ 53-man roster at the start of the offseason. He impressed the team during the summer and made the roster as a deep-ball specialist. With multiple Kansas City wideouts missing time over the first two months of the season, Thornton was heavily involved in the offense early in the year. He caught 13 passes for 272 yards and three scores over the first five games of the season. That pace would have seen him clear 900 yards, but the Chiefs eventually got Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy back. Once that happened, Thornton’s role all but vanished. He closed the year with 19 grabs for 438 and three scores. Thornton also pitched in on special teams. He will hit free agency in the spring. Though Thornton isn’t likely to make much of an impact on the fantasy landscape in 2026, he has done an impressive job carving out a role in Kansas City after his career fizzled out in New England. He won’t have any issues finding work next year.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (concussion) remains in the league’s concussion protocol Monday.
The same can be said of Tyquan Thornton as each wide receiver was listed as a “DNP” on Monday’s estimated practice report. Both players will first need to be asymptomatic before returning to the practice field in some capacity, remain asymptomatic through a full session, and then be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play on Christmas Day.

Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton (concussion) won’t play in Kansas City’s Week 16 game against the Titans.
If you still have him rostered for some reason, he’s not a must-keep at this point of the season. Thornton did seem like Kansas City’s best deep receiver — or at least the one who had the best chemistry with Patrick Mahomes — while healthy. But with Mahomes out for the season, Thornton would be an unlikely source of fantasy value unless several Chiefs ahead of him on the depth chart were ruled out in Week 17 or Week 18.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (concussion) will not practice on Thursday.
Rice is on the wrong side of questionable at this point, as is WR Tyquan Thornton (concussion), who will also be sidelined today. The Chiefs will likely attempt to control the game with a run-heavy approach against the Titans, with QB Gardner Minshew under center. Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy and TE Travis Kelce should handle significant portions of the available targets.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Rice “reported concussion symptoms on Monday and entered the league’s protocol.” Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton is also in the league’s concussion protocol, potentially leaving the receiving corps short-staffed for QB Gardner Minshew against the Titans this week. Chiefs TE Travis Kelce could get a chance to pad his stats, given the state of things, on Sunday.

Tyquan Thornton caught 2-of-3 targets for 47 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 15 loss against the Chargers.
Thornton easily led the team in air yards and nearly came down with a Patrick Mahomes deep shot before Mahomes left the game with a season-ending knee injury. Thornton ran a route on about half of the Chiefs’ drop backs and operated as the team’s only real downfield threat. It’s hard to imagine Thornton holding much value with Gardner Minshew under center for the Chiefs in Week 16 against the Titans.

Tyquan Thornton caught 3-of-5 targets for 90 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 5 loss to the Jaguars.
Thornton caught his first three targets in the first half for gains of 24 yards, 32 yards, and 34 yards but failed to catch another ball in the final 42 minutes of play. He saw his snap rate cut drastically with the return of Xavier Worthy in Week 4, something that carried over into the team’s Week 5 loss to the Jaguars. It appears his early-season involvement in the offense ahs gone by the wayside, something unlikely to change course with Rashee Rice’s return looming.

Xavier Worthy (shoulder/ankle) has been added to the injury report and is questionable for Week 5 against the Jaguars.
This one comes from way out of left field. Worthy, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury since Week 1, was listed as a full participant in practice all week, but has apparently picked up an ankle injury since the team released its last report. We don’t have much information on his latest injury at this time, but a player picking up a new injury a day before his team is set to play is seldom a good sign. Fantasy managers like RotoPat, who are counting on Worthy to save their week, will have limited options available to them at this point in time. Tyquan Thornton could be worth adding off waivers, where possible, as an easy pivot off Worthy if he is ultimately ruled out 90 minutes before kickoff.

ESPN’s Nate Taylor reports the Chiefs are “optimistic” that Xavier Worthy (shoulder) “will be able to play a limited role for the offense while wearing a small harness” in Week 4.
Does that sound like a role that elevates beyond decoy? Not to us. Even if Worthy is active for Week 4 after missing the last two weeks following a Week 1 dislocated shoulder, this indicates he could be eased back into the offense slowly. This line comes from a piece about Tyquan Thornton, who deservedly is getting major waiver wire love this week. We might rather start Thornton than Worthy this week even if both of them are active.

Tyquan Thornton caught 5-of-9 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs’ Week 3 win over the Giants.
Thornton connected with Patrick Mahomes from five yards out in the third quarter, scoring as the third read in the green zone. He would narrowly miss tacking on a second score to his ledger twice in the final frame, the first of which was ruled incomplete as he failed to survive the ground and the second of which he came down with the football at the one. Thornton has proven his growth in the offense and gives the Chiefs a downfield element in the absences of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, making him a viable fantasy starter when the Chiefs take on the Ravens in Week 4.
