  • MIA Quarterback #19
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Skylar Thompson will be the team’s starter if Tua Tagovailoa is out for Week 3.
McDaniel described Thompson, who came in for Tagovailoa on Thursday night after Tagovailoa suffered a brain injury, as the “next man up.” McDaniel added the team would likely make a depth signing at quarterback in the coming days. Thompson will be a massive downgrade for everyone in the Miami offense. He was 8 for 14 for 80 scoreless yards on Thursday night against the Bills.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill caught 3-of-6 targets for 24 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Bills, adding a 12-yard rush.
The entire Dolphins’ offense had a comedown from its explosive Week 1. Making matters worse was the third quarter loss of Tua Tagovailoa to the third known concussion of his NFL career. Considering that scary injury history, Tagovailoa seems highly unlikely to suit up for Week 3 against the Seahawks, which means it would be Skylar Thompson under center. Coach Mike McDaniel is a good enough play-caller that we wouldn’t fear Hill dropping out of the top 12, or even the top 5-6, but he’s going to be a much more volatile option without his starting quarterback.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill caught 7-of-12 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars.
Hill, who was detained by police on his way to the stadium on Sunday morning, was held in check for the entire first half. He finally popped off with an 80-yard catch and run that catapulted the Dolphins to a comeback win over Jacksonville. 80 of Hill’s 130 yards came after the catch, a staple of the Mike McDaniels offense. Hill should continue operating as a target hog in Week 2 against a shaky Bills secondary.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill is active for Week 1 against the Jaguars.
Hill was pulled over and detained by police on his way to the stadium this morning. He was cited for reckless driving and got into a verbal altercation with police officers before they arrested him on the side of the road. Hill will suit up for opening day against Jacksonville and resume his role as the Dolphins’ clear-cut No. 1 wideout.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Tyreek Hill was detained by police after a traffic incident this morning but is available for today’s game.
Per Rapoport, Hill was pulled over by police about one block from the Dolphins’ stadium. He was briefly detained but has since arrived at the field. ESPN’s Jeff Darlington shed some light on the situation, reporting Hill was cited for reckless driving and got into a verbal altercation with police before being placed in handcuffs. Per Darlington, “He was cited and released after the situation was de-escalated.” Hill and some teammates who witnessed the incident have all made it to the stadium and are available for Week 1.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill (thumb) will participate in Monday’s practice.
As will Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed). Both players had already been declared on track for Week 1, but this confirms it. Hill will probably still end up wearing some sort of brace against the Jaguars, but it should not be a real concern for Round 1 fantasy drafters.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Pro Football Network’s Adam Beasley reports Tyreek Hill (thumb) will be ready for Week 1 against the Jaguars.
Wearing a brace, Hill was held out of Wednesday’s practice and almost certainly won’t suit up for the team’s preseason finale against the Bucs. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said there are “times that because of the timing of where their bodies are at kind of puts them at risk to get further injury.” McDaniels added: “And so it’s really from a medical standpoint, you’re just trying to let something cool down. ... So you don’t have something happen at the expense of regular season games.” Hill and Jaylen Waddle — dealing with an undisclosed injury for nearly a month — should be ready to roll for Week 1.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports Tyreek Hill was seen wearing a protective brace on his right hand.
Hill did not catch passes during Tuesday’s practice, Jackson said. It’s an injury situation head coach Mike McDaniel will likely address during his Wednesday news conference. The Dolphins have been plagued with injuries during training camp. Jackson said 20 Miami players are dealing with some kind of ailment. If Hill were to miss any regular season action, Jaylen Waddle would operate as the team’s No. 1 wideout and rookie Malik Washington could be WR2.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Dolphins signed WR Tyreek Hill to a three-year, $90 million contract restructure.
The deal includes $65 million in guarantees, bringing his four-year guaranteed total to a robust $106.5 million, the most ever for a wide receiver. Notably, there were no additional years added to his contract, keeping the speedy wide receiver under team control through the 2026 season. Hill has finished as fantasy’s overall WR2 in consecutive seasons while playing for the Dolphins and remains one of the safest first-round selections in drafts this season.
  • MIA Wide Receiver #10
Tyreek Hill said he’s focused on “trying to help [the Dolphins] win games,” and that he plans to keep practicing while hoping for a new contract.
Hill says he plays on “practicing every day” while leaving the contract negotiations to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Hill said discussions for a new deal have been “positive” and that he believes a new deal is coming down the line. Hill said at the start of July that he was looking for a new deal after the likes of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Justin Jefferson reset the receiver market earlier this year. Hill caught 119 passes for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Dolphins last season and he has a 238-3,509-20 line in two seasons with the team. Still, at the top of his game, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Hill get paid as such sometime in the near future.
