Speaking on Terron Armstead’s podcast ‘The Set,’ Tyreek Hill said whether or not he retires is “based upon how I feel.”
It was the first public interview given by Hill since suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. The 31-year-old receiver said right now he’s happy being at home with his kids and with the career he has had before adding “I’m at the point now where I need to have a conversation [about retirement] with mom, family, everybody.” Laid up on his couch and recovering from surgery, Hill sounded more like a player who would prefer to retire than continue the NFL grind, but a lot could change between now and then. Hill will be 32 at the start of next season but remains under contract through 2026. He’ll have to undergo extensive rehab just to return to the field, and said in 2023 he would retire after his current contract — the one he is on now — expires. Even if he does play in 2026, it’s clear Hill is on the back nine of his career, and could opt to call it quits at any time.

Tyreek Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said Hill wants to continue his career with the Dolphins after he recovers from his season-ending knee injury.
Rosenhaus implicitly acknowledged that the two sides will have to rework Hill’s contract, saying he and Hill “would love to get together with [the front office] after the season and figure something out that works for both sides.” Rosenhaus also recently said that it is “realistic” for Hill to be on the field come Week 1, 2026. This is a bit surprising, as is Hill’s decision to quickly undergo one surgery to correct his dislocated knee and multiple ligament tears, rather than partitioning the procedures a la Texans WR Tank Dell, who tore multiple ligaments and dislocated his kneecap in Week 16, 2024. Anything is possible at this point, though an agent’s prognostications are simply that. We should get more actionable reports from NFL media members in the coming months.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said that Tyreek Hill’s “realistic goal” is to be ready for the start of the 2026 season.
What team he’s with at that point, we do not know. Apparently there’s no nerve damage or cartilage issues for Hill, so even though the surgery is complex, there’s a chance he’ll be ready to go at the start of the 2026 season. We’d be surprised if the 32-year-old, coming off a major and complex knee injury, was more than a WR3 dart throw in 2026. But it can’t be completely ruled out at this point.

CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports Tyreek Hill’s knee injury could keep him sidelined into the 2026 season.
The horrific knee injury Hill sustained in Monday night’s win over the Jets, according to Jones, is “among the more devastating knee injuries you see in football” and could require more than a year of recovery time. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said Hill, 31, is facing “major reconstruction surgery of multiple ligaments.” Hill had to have his leg stabilized by medical staff before he could be carted to the locker room Monday night. His injury was among the most gruesome of the modern era, and could be career threatening. Hill has a potential out with his Dolphins contract — a path he seems likely to take after years of complaining about the franchise, his quarterback, and his head coach. Hill will likely be in another uniform next season if or when he’s ready to return.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (leg) was carted to the locker room in the third quarter of Week 4 against the Jets.
Hill is almost certainly done for the season with what looked like a gruesome lower leg injury. Team training staffs were both on the scene after the injury happened, cutting his cleat off to stabilize his leg. He was seen with a smile as he was carted to the locker room. Jaylen Waddle and Malik Washington will be tasked with stepping up through the air in his absence.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill (personal) missed practice Saturday but is expected to play Monday.
Hill was absent from team practice Saturday for personal reasons but is expected to play on Monday against the Jets. The early season returns have been less than stellar for Hill and the rest of the Dolphins’ primary skill position players. The Jets no longer present the same vaunted defense as they have in previous seasons, meaning fantasy managers will want to start Hill with confidence in Week 4, regardless of his struggles through three games.

Tyreek Hill caught 5-of-10 targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ Week 3 loss to the Bills.
Hill’s 10 targets were a new season high, though he’s now been held below 50 yards receiving in 2-of-3 contests. The touchdown was his first of 2025. It was a fourth quarter lollipop pass from Tua Tagovailoa. Hill could have had a sixth reception, but fell down on slippery “Highmark Stadium” turf. On the other hand, his first reception probably wasn’t actually a catch, but the Bills didn’t challenge. Hill still looks springy and fast, but Tagovailoa’s play has been dismal through the season’s first three contests. The Jets await for Monday Night Football in Week 4.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said that the Dolphins are not considering trading Tyreek Hill “at this stage” and hope to increase Hill’s downfield opportunities.
Wolfe said Tua Tagovailoa has focused on getting the ball out quickly in an effort to keep from getting hit too often, but that tactic has resulted in fewer downfield opportunities for Hill. The Dolphins are reportedly hoping to get the downfield passing game back on track against the Bills this evening.

Tyreek Hill caught 6-of-7 targets for 109 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss to the Patriots.
Hill managed his first reception over 30 yards since 2023. It came on a second-half underthrow from Tua Tagovailoa where Hill adjusted behind a Pats defender that overran the throw for a 47-yard gain. Overall, the offense utilized Hill and Jaylen Waddle downfield more, but failed to capitalize on multiple drives. Tagovailoa overthrew Hill on another deep ball late as the two still had moments of disconnect. Hill’s status with the team will remain a topic of conversation moving forward, but he is a fantasy WR2 heading into Week 3 against the Bills.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Dolphins have no plans to trade WR Tyreek Hill.
Schefter goes as far as to say that the Dolphins haven’t received calls from any teams interested in Hill. His report flies in the face of a Pro Football Talk report earlier this week that said the Chiefs and Steelers were interested in the 31-year-old wide receiver. With Hill wearing out his welcome in Miami and the Dolphins season already nosediving, he’s an obvious trade candidate. The Chiefs make logical sense as a landing spot given that he’s played there before and the team has a need at wide receiver until Rashee Rice returns from suspension. Still, no trade appears imminent at this time and his value could be complicated by his recent domestic violence allegations.
