2009 sixth-round pick Don Carey ran with the Jaguars’ first-team defense in place of disgruntled CB Rashean Mathis at Monday’s OTA.
Carey, whom the Jaguars stole off waivers from the Browns last summer, spent his first year on injured reserve. Assuming Mathis regains his starting spot by Week 1, Carey looks to have an inside track on the nickel back job.

Chiefs placed CB Tyron Brackendridge (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
His injury is believed to be a sprain, not anything that will require surgical repair. The undrafted rookie from Washington State shared nickel duties with Benny Sapp all season and covered kicks. Brackenridge is a banger, but is unlikely to develop into a long-term replacement for Patrick Surtain or Ty Law.

    Jets waived CB Tyron Brackenridge.
Brackenridge lacks the speed to play in the secondary, so he was trying to make the Jets as a gunner. Obviously, they were looking for more versatility.

Jaguars claimed CB Tyron Brackenridge off waivers from the Jets.
The addition probably brings only depth for summer work. Brackenridge could help the Jags on special teams, but isn’t much of an option at corner.

Jaguars CB Tyron Brackenridge will get his second consecutive start this week in place of Rashean Mathis (groin).
Mathis has already been ruled out for Week 12 and coach Jack Del Rio said he won’t have another update until next week. Brackenridge had three tackles and one pass defensed in Week 11 as part of a secondary that gave up 297 passing yards to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Brackenridge was the victim of Terrell Owens’ 97-yard touchdown catch.

Chiefs signed CB Tyron Brackenridge to a two-year contract.
Brackenridge, who runs about a 4.7 in the forty, will play special teams in his return to KC. He was on the club last year and showed some promise, but didn’t make the club this year because of injuries.

    Chiefs released CB Tyron Brackenridge.
Brackenridge was just signed last week but apparently didn’t show enough for an extended stay. The team is looking at veterans Ricardo Colclough and David Macklin as possible replacements.

Jets signed DB Tyron Brackenridge, DT Nate Robinson, DE Sean Conover, LB Nate Harris, and CB Marquice Cole.
Save Robinson (no relation to KryptoNate), all these players have had cups of coffee in the league. They all remain long shots to make the big club.
